wow this speedrun is nice. First of all, this hack is just beautiful (but I'm pretty sure you guys knew that already) and the speedrun is just about perfect. It's around 2 hours, so grab some popcorn ;)
oh yeah, and critics, read this.

I absolutely hate these kinds of movies. I stopped watching about 25 minutes into it when I saw the idiot maker of this showboating for no reason other than to do it. "Skill" does not include "using external utilities to maximize output" because you just defeated whatever "skill" you had to actually show off to begin with. You show me a human that can do half of this shit and then I'll be impressed.

I love these videos, they show the potential of what you can accomplish, though like you say you would be hard pressed to actually find someone that good.
It is of course equally fun to watch for instance the guy playing Ikaruga on hard using both 1P and 2P controllers, now there's inhuman skill for ya.

I agree. It is http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-163280885783523408&q=ikarugaastonishing, if you ask me. I have trouble passing the first level with one ship. He totally cleans house on the second level with two. It's very impressive. So was that SMB3 speedrun (the ~11 minute one).
I love watching speedruns, or other assorted cool videos.

I agree, I thought I was alone. I've never been impressed by these, what's the point of playing through a game this fast? It can't be fun. The only game I ever attempted to do something like this was Castlevania SotN, I tried to do a "no boss" Richter speedrun, I got through the first castle and realized it was more fun to fight the bosses than to not fight them.

http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/movies.cgi?id=436This is a shitload more impressive. I dont know about the TLC one, I thought it was kind of boring, given the length of the run. The run linked, however, was fucking awesome. impressive, entertaining, WTF inducing, and all around enjoyable to watch. Regardless of whether or not you hate these kind of runs you should definitely watch this one, if only for the wtf/wow factors.
