View Full Version : Something that messed with my head.

I was driving around with friends, and I have this girl named Ashley next to me in the passenger seat. I'm right next to a white Monte Carlo. She suddenly goes "Oh...My...Fucking...God. Is that my father?" I look over, and there's this guy. Looks nice enough. She goes on "Holy shit, I think that's my father...but, I don't know...haven't seen him since I was twelve." From hanging out with her before, I got the impression that she had some kind of problem with her parents, but I never asked her about it. She's a very nice girl. Very shy, and tries to pay for everything for everyone "just to be nice." She weighs about 100 pounds, and even though she's 16 she looks like she's about 12. She looks for a few more seconds, then says "Oh my God. It IS him." then looks for a few more seconds, and puts her head down as he glances our way. "Uhm...is your father, like, dangerous or anything?" And she replies, "Well, he used to beat the shit out of me, and last time I saw him, he tried to murder my mother." I immediately slowed down quite a bit. Several bad scenarios mostly involving me getting run off the road and assaulted by this guy, and Ashley being kidnapped by him went through my head rather quickly. After a few seconds, I replied "Dear...fucking...God. Why isn't he in jail?" She replies, "Because we're fucking afraid of him. We just got a restraining order. God...he's a drug dealer...and we thought his friends might do something to us. I thought he was in jail. Now I have to worry about this fucking SHIT all again..."

I don't know why, but that just severely affected me somehow.

I didn't get that impression, and I've known my share of drama queens. She seems like the kind of person who avoids, rather than seeks attention. I'm pretty good at sniffing out bullshit.

This may come as a shock but their are people who make up stories to get attention. (like people who tell everyone they lost their job and life sucks) So that is a question to consider...

Chill out, Brad. He's just mad because he can't get a girl.
Rather than at least trying (like you) he sits around and insults them.

Keep in mind, that was a stupid April Fool's joke Brad pulled. Devorious, however, has voiced similar sexist remarks in other threads.

Devorious: "Sounds like she's full of bullshit. Females make this kind of shit up all the time."

The second part is sexist but the first statment may be true, I've heard some stories from people that I later found out were not true, but sounded like they might. Now Jaduss thinks she is not making it up so I say he should watch out.

Quite. People with a past like that should probably be watched carefully (which means, anybody I'm with better watch me carefully too. I won't deny that).

Hey! He's got a point.. not saying I can tell from JadussD's story whether that chick is full of it - but I know some chick's that embelish their bullshit stories so much, I won't believe a word they say.

Doesn't mean all chicks are like that.

by the way, all fathers aren't drug-dealing spouse-abusers. duh.

as far as i'm concerned, the point is that guys do it too... so to specifically say that its females that make up shit like this...... no, its people. lying and embellishing isnt sex-specific.

well.... it's in the eye of the beholder.

I don't make up crazy shit about my ex-girlfriend beating me and talk about it all the time like I'm the next jerry springer contestant. None of my guy friends do this either.... wait, there is one, and he might as well be a fag, cuz he acts queer all the time.

But I know chicks that do.

the bullshit stories may not be about the same things, but they still exist in guys too. it just seems like guys and girls look for different things when they make up stories. i'm not saying that guys lie about being beat up by people (in a sick way, women have more to gain by lying about that than men do)... i'm just saying that they lie for attention, too.

So perhaps the issue isn't about lying for attention so much as - how far does one go? What do they lie about?

When I think of a male lie for attention, it's like - Yeah, I did this wheelie on my motorcycle. or - I fucked this chick with 36-DD tits!

These are rather humorous lies... not designed to provoke an emotional response used to control someone. I believe lying about being beaten or raped, etc... is in a much more severe category, and can be used for manipulative ends.

i agree... i assumed we were talking about lying in extreme measures for attention. i once had an ex-bf lie to me and tell that he was calling child protection services on dad because of things i did. we were online at the time, and he said he was talking to the lady right then. he'd also said that he was going to commit suicide, or cut himself, or do something crazy... all for attention. he never had any intention of actually doing these things. he used to lie CONSTANTLY about things, for some reason thinking it'd drive me back into this arms or something. a lot of them were very serious lies, and just for attention. whatever, buddy.

which is exactly why i broke up with him after like 4 months. he wasnt so psycho at first. ah well. luckily, he lived 4hrs away. i actually had to block his email address and hang up the phone as soon as i realized it was him calling. it was the only way to get rid of him completely. i know he's married now, though. i pity his wife.... poor poor girl.
