I have downloaded four versions of MAME32, 99, 99.u9, 99.u7 and 96, I got all but .96 off the official site, and every last damn one of them have this horrible glitch that when I click "enable cheats" the games won't load. and I have to delete the whole folder, then unzip the file again to get them to work.
Then I tried without enabling cheats, and the games worked once and never loaded again. It would show the loading window, then go back to the fucking browser page. No error messages what-so-ever. It just gives up on loading not even half-way through.
I looked through known bugs on MAME Testers, and it doesn't say anything about how enabling cheats envokes the wrath of the almighty MAME32 god.
I don't know, it could be my comp or something, though I doubt it.

From the mame32.chm help file:
* Use the Options • Reset to default menu choice and check all of the items, restart Mame32.
* Final option, manually delete the Mame32ui.ini and the Mame32.ini file in the \ini directory.
---
* If versions of Mame32 prior to .66 had been installed on the system, verify that the old registry key has been deleted with regedit.exe. "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Freeware/Mame32"
Check the rest of the document for more tips.

Thing is, v95 and all the others before .96 worked fine. Then suddenly this started happening. But I'll give your advice a try and see what happens.

THANK YOU. I was wondering why mame32 (all versions) stopped working on my computer...this fixed it!

But you're using the most recent uX releases, right? They changed a lot of stuff around, so... yeah.

Evidently, yes. Even with v96, none of your advice worked. I don't even have a freeware or MAME32 subdirectory in my registry.
