Scrolling through with DirectEd, I can only manage to find recognizable player sprites and projectiles, as well as the HUD icons and text, as well as some kanji near the end of the file in 2bpp mode.
I can't seem to find anything that resembles walls, monsters, etc in the ROM, perhaps it has funky compression or encryption of some sort? (I tried looking all over the rom in 3bpp, 4 and 2bpp to no avail) and often all these tiles have dotted lines across them as well in each mode too.

fyi i'm doing a couple ips patches - one that alters the game to be "Gargoyle's Quest III", and another that's just a joke patch with male monster nudity and strong language heh heh.

Male monster nudity? Now I don't feel bad about telling you that it's compressed (if you can't see it in the tile editor, it usually is... is it ever not???).

Best thing I can tell you is to find the gfx by corrupting or use sniff.exe (one of FuSoYa's wonderful tools) if you know how . . . Even though you don't have the graphic format, you sometimes get lucky if you know what you're looking for.

If you can, put the line "Chrono, yer mom is hot!" in the hack somewhere. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>
