How come? I'm describing the item as it is. I'm not trying to scam anyone.
I know. I HATE the fact that I'm selling this piece of shit... I just want to get my money back, and a refund just ain't happening.

What kind of quality are we talking? Are they just copies of an official set, or like HK bootlegs with shitty subs et all?

I don't even know. I haven't popped them in my DVD player. The seller said that they worked fine, but considering that each DVD is supposed to include a lot of episodes, I don't know.
Would you like me to take some screenshots of the video through my computer?

Not unless you have the free time and wish to do so. Payday isn't for another 2 weeks, and sadly until then even the price you are asking is more than I have :P

Too bad that stuff like this was NOT mentioned in the rules. The only rule I've seen, specific to this section of the forum, is "No links to eBay / auctions".
Yes, I'm pissed. This shouldn't have been removed like this. I made it clear right away what I was selling, and I was not trying to scam anyone.

Selling bootlegs is illegal.....even if you tell everyone it is a bootleg.
It doesn't make it less illegal or something.

It should still be in the rules. This is the Internet, there is no such thing as common sense.

I disagree.
I don't think the items were posted out of ignorance. In fact, it was the exact opposite of that.
But whatever, I'm done posting on this topic.

RULES???? FUCKING RULES???
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ON?
Illegal=Against the fucking law. Did you accidentally disconnect your head from your body yesterday or something?
Yeah, an emulation site needs to host a classified ad selling bootleg 'anything'.

No, I'm being honest. If there are no rules about something, it is automatically assumed that it is allowed.
The one rule that has been given and posted in this forum is "No eBay". I complied.
If you don't want anyone else to do this again, I suggest you sit down and write proper rules for the forum and this subsection.

Use your brain. Posting about illegal products is against the rules. You should not need to see a rule to understand that.

"Don't post anything that could get the site in trouble with the law" is just common sense. To take extreme cases merely to illustrate the point, just because the site's rules don't explicitly forbid peddling crack or posting pedophilic pornography doesn't mean anyone should expect to be able to do either here and not get banned. I'm not saying selling that selling bootleg DVDs is like pushing drugs or posting pedo porn of course. =P
Anyway, this is just a message board, so don't get too worked up over anything here. Heck, I was banned for a while for having made a duplicate account as a joke, and guess what? Life went on. Take it easy, you'll live longer. ;)
Btw, are you sure that they're actually bootleg, and not just foreign release? I was given a Juuni Kokki box set that was subbed attrociously in Hong Kong (it has Chinese packaging and menus and defaults to Chinese subtitles, and the English translation, added in as an afterthought, was apparently translated from the Chinese translation, as the names are transliterated from their Chinese phonetic renderings) but it's apparently legit, from what I've looked up. (At, least it's what's called "grey market" goods, since that particular edition was licensed for release in a different region.)

Dude, I can understand you being a little annoyed that your post was yanked, but seriously, get over it and stop being a jerk about it. I'd assume that people trying to sell something that is in fact illegal would obviously, on account of common sense (though apparently it's not THAT common) be seen as something that folks shouldn't post. I mean really, sheesh.

It's not the fact that it got deleted (that I can understand), it's -how- Fla Flash reacted to this. I never expected him to react like that.
And I was being totally serious about the rules. Sure, my tone sucked, I admit that, but the truth is that rules have to be written and displayed (preferably as a sticky) so someone else does not make this mistake again. And someone does post something that is not allowed, well, then they have no excuse.

Here's the thing... it's a gray area. Yes, I know they're counterfeit copies, I will NOT deny that, EVER.
HOWEVER, the sale of a lot of these kinds of items all over, in reputed (and not so reputed) stores, online and offline... well... made me think that US authorities really don't give a damn about these kinds of items. There's eBay, small stores in malls, and (in a smaller level these days) anime conventions (though to be honest, they've started to crack down on bootleggers there, which is awesome).
So. It's not so much common sense as everyone here keeps saying... but how can something be common sense if you see this all the time, everywhere? That's why I posted the items. I meant no harm, and I made sure to mention what they were.
And that's it.

I've modified my post at the top. I made the stupid mistake of thinking people would use their heads, but it appears I was mistaken. Sorry about yanking your post the way I did, but the last thing an emulation site needs to be seen doing is selling anything where there could be a copyright problem.

Here's a rundown of things that aren't to be sold or added as attachments.
Roms, Warez, Crackz, Passwords to paysites, Backdoors to paysites, serial numbers to shareware or demo's to make full, mp3's that are not public domain, hacked shareware, hacked demo's, bootleg or any other burned at home type music or other stuff that is copyrighted or made by a group that is signed or sells retail, anything stolen *just in case anyone thinks of doing it in the future*, and anything banned by the DMCA.
I think that covers almost anything that could be sold or attached but I know someone in the future will find something not on this list.
This is not an officially approved list by SwampGas or anyone else in control of the site, it's just a list of things that could get the site into hotwater or the persons buying or selling banned in all likelyhood.

Kitsune wasn't knowingly breaking any rules.
I think you should all stop ganging up on him.
Kitsune, you should have posted your ad a little differently worded. The reason that all of these DVD sets on eBay are still being listed is that the original publishers have not written in to say "these are the only retail versions that we produce, the others are counterfeit. Please do not allow them to be listed on your auction site." Other trademark holders like Prada (handbags) and Tiffany (lamps) have done that, and counterfeits are removed as soon as they're reported.
You should've advertised your item like...
"I have a Vandread DVD box set for sale. It contains # episodes on # discs and comes in a fold-out case. The back says it's Region 0, which I assume will play in all DVD players. I got it in a trade a while back, but realized it wasn't the exact set I wanted. You can have it for $10"
...
If you plaster the word "bootleg" all over the advertisement, you're not going to sell it, and you're just calling attention to yourself, as the conversation above is proof of.

Doesn't matter now, does it? I could've had enough with a real explanation instead of this whole thread devolving to everyone flaming me. INCLUDING the mod... who sadly disguised his insults inside an apology.
So keep making fun of me everyone! Some of you made your points heard, but for the rest of you, I'm sure your penis will increase exponentially with every single word you say. Meantime, I'll be here, trying to make money to leave the country and hopefully find a good job.

I'm through with this post. I'm surprised at you David. The apology was genuine; what I find abhorrent is 'because there's no rule, that means I can do it' attitude.
Sorry that you feel that way.

Pfft, I'm not trying to flame you, but I did feel you were acting like kind of an ass about it. You live ya learn ya move on. In a couple days no one will remember this post. :P
