Ok, call me a nooB or some #&%@ I don' t give a #$%^ but I've been emuing games from other places for years now. I never really used this site before. But I was wondering about all the Super Metroid hacks you guys say you all are doing. Has anyone offically finished any good hacked versions of the game? Send me a PM if anyone has to tell me about it, I'm not asking for the rom itself.

Explaining it here is just as good. To put it simply, there are no good completed Super Metroid hacks. There is a japanese site that has a few hacks (completed in the sense that they are done, but nothing near great quality) and Jathys made a few 5 minute hacks. There are a couple of really big ones in the works. That's about it.

I don't know the address of it off hand. But I do remember a hack called "Metroid Reverse" being hosted at it. There were about 4 or 5 hacks at the site last time I checked. "The Jathys person" should know it off hand, I'll wait for his response.

How about this, you dilligently search and make a list of things I should change and things I should fix, and I'll let you play my hack's recent demo. If you choose not, and play the hack anyways, you will regret helping a needy junior high student. And I'll melt your ice.

(Drew, look at this if you want, I'm rethinking my Escape Route, and it's not in there now, and I just finished organizing PLM Indexes, I used to pull random numbers out of the air, and it hurt my progress, now they go in order.)

No shitting.

The site you are thinking of is:
http://sukamax.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hackrom.html

Google translate it and you'll get a reasonably good understanding of what they're saying. Some of these hacks are actually done quite well . . . And for those of you who are interested, the japanese have a better help file for SMILE than I do

Anyway, one of my "5 minute" hacks takes nearly 40 minutes to play. True though, Alliance is being worked on (very slowly) and has not even had an *official* demo yet.

Something's fucked up in that hack, but it's so far into it that I don't care. Be warned, I messed up an enemy. But it's after you get the gravity suit so don't let that stop you, it still goes way farther than the old one.

I played through your hack pretty far, but eventually got stuck because of some bugs. Most of them are around this large room in the Blue Brainstar-esqe area (where the walls damage you). It contains a reserve tank in the upper right corner, and you have to super bomb a support on the ground to reach a very large area below you. This is where it gets really buggy.

1.)If you super missile a support in the lower portion of this room, you are taken to a room that is impossible to exit from (there is an energy tank with a secret super missile directly below it). The path that you entered from is blocked, and the only exit is a tunnel on the far right of the room. However, if you try to enter this, the screen moves left (instead of right) and you get stuck behind a wall in the next area.
2)If intead of going down into the previous room, you open the door on the far right end of the large blue room, the emulator crashes. I tried it on a different emulator and it appears to be a save point.
3)If you follow the path behind the door directly above the one that crahses the game, you eventaully come to door on the ceiling (there are a bunch of heads that spit blue fireballs below it). Going though this door crashes the game too.
