View Full Version : Can anyone help me to get CDDA working in ePSXe?

I'm trying to run a game from an ISO and through drive emulation by means of Alcohol 120% - and nothing. Mounting the disc image in Alcohol and then playing the CD in Winamp shows that the drive is working, but ePSXe flat out refuses to play any CD audio. Normal sound, as well as XA and MDEC sound works, it's just CDDA that doesn't.
I use a variety of plugins, but mostly I stick to Pete's plugins. This happens in all games with CDDA, not just the one I'm trying to play (Real Bout Dominated Mind).
Hope anyone can help me out. Thanks.

Do you have an audio cable running from the drive to the motherboard?

It's a virtual CD. I don't have a physical copy of the game. I can play CDDA through my DVD drive just fine.

I've been running into this problem myself, and appears to be an issue with ePSXe itself rather than Daemon Tools (I was able to listen to the audio tracks in Winamp/Media Player Classic, but can't hear anything in-game).
It started happening when I upgraded my hardware (Complete overhaul: The only thing remaining from my old system was the case itself and a DVD-ROM drive), so I'm not sure if it's just that ePSXe doesn't like some of my drivers or what.
Another thing of note was that when I was running Windows 2000, games mounted in a virtual drive would have no audio, but would actually run OK. Now that I finally decided to switch to XP, any game ran this way will BSOD the system. I burned a few games to check if it was a Daemon Tools problem, and while it seems to run slightly more stable this way, it will still kill the entire system soon into a game (This is only happening with games that use CD-DA).
I've tried just about every CD-ROM, SPU, and even GPU plugin you can think of to no avail, and even downgraded to version 1.5.2 and still ran into the same issues. I just don't even try to play any of my games with CD-DA any more.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

If it's just an ISO, the tracks may not be... set up right.
Try ripping the game (or any game with redbook) as bin/cue, mounting it, and seeing what happens.

Mount with D-Tools, right click the tray icon, go to Options, enable Analog Audio.
Why are you mounting the ISO? ePSXe should be able to load it directly (File > Run ISO).

Doesn't matter how I load it. It still doesn't like CDDA.
I run it that way because it's easier to run, and I can limit the speed of the CD Drive emulation so the game doesn't go bonkers.

I don't use Daemon Tools, not after I realized that it caused 99% of the instability problems I used to have in this machine. Alcohol all the way.
