I got tired of stupid nOObs not reading the 1. rule and looking for roms here, at wrong place. So i decided to introduce them to p2p and get rid of them :) ...Hopefully.
So, nOObs, read this:
ASKING FOR ROMS HERE IS AGAINST THE RULES YOU WILL BE BANNED.
Edited by Fla Flash on 08/11/05 09:24 PM.

Well, in theory, downloading a rom is legal for 24 hours and/or if you own the cartridge, but I agree with you.

Nope -- a copy being distributed illegally is illegal -- for even 1 second... and even if you own the cartridge.
The only real way to have a legit copy of a ROM is to dump it yourself from a physical copy of a game you own.

Nope, the act of making the copy is also illegal.

Only for newer games that display "Do not make any backups of this product" on the opening screens. ;)

OK no offense, but you're a n00b too, Mr. 189 Posts to His Name. That said, it is also against the rules to post WHERE you can find ROMs and ISOs.
It would be in your best interests to remove that link.

Even if it was I'd still do it...I should be allowed legal backups of my games, for MY use. There's a difference there between distributing these backups and making them for my own use.
I'm glad I have a means to do this for my PSX, GBA, SegaCD (I paid more than I was expecting for Popful Mail on eBay...damned if I'm gonna scratch up that CD), and NDS games....oh yeah, and the one Saturn game I have. :P

Yah, he's right in that part but I just thought the "I have more posts than you so you are my bitch" mentality was kinda dumb.

No, I was just using an exemple. You were talking about making backups and I though of this, because it's what I did with my PSX disks, after I lost FF7 in a car crash :-/

Oh...I just use my computer usually since it means I don't have to dig out the Playstation. Man, I'm glad of the backups....I can't find my copy of WarioWare for the GBa anywhere, but I have a backup on my computer.

Its sharing man. Noone takes any responsibility for what you download but yourself. In most perfect world everyone would own cartridge before downloading via p2p, but not everyone has that much money. Heck, I cant even find cartridges avaliable on stores.

I won't be the one getting banned for posting something against the rules. If you got tired of them looking the wrong places, then PM them, don't post stuff that's against the rules, and then bitch about someone posting something that is against the rules. It's not. Not in any way shape or form.
However the guide is borderline. I think instructing people on breaking the law has been going on for eons.

Uh...not having enough money doesn't make it legal. By that logic I could go rob a bank, then say "Well I did it because I had no money!" and that would automatically make it legal.

No, no, it's sharing. Like, if you borrowed money from a guy you knew robbed the bank, there'd be no problem with it because he's sharing.

And in what way is legal when you download a rom from some site, change it and distribute the patch over the internet?
Now all rom hacking is a question of legalness.
Disch
08-10-2005, 11:40 PM
Theoretically the patch contains no copywrited data, only original data that the hacker created. Therefore it can be freely distributed by the hacker however he sees fit -- since he created everything in it, it belongs to him.
However this isn't true for people who rip graphics from one game and put them in another.

I believe the (American at least) law is still that you can make one backup copy, from your own legally-obtained copy, for yourself only. And you must erase/destroy the backup if you no longer own the original.
Nintendo also says it's games are "for sale and use only in [Japan/USA, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America/whatever the Pal region boxes say. :) ]", but last I knew, it was legal for me to import and play genuine copies of foreign games if I feel like it.

like to start with (or end sins its late to talk about that) half of you are probaly rom hackers, so in other words if having a ROM or copy of a game is illegal well you can't hack or make a patch for a game with out the ROM unless you know the whole ROM in your headl
so instead of arguing if its legal, just say its a automatic ban if you bother more than 2 time for a rom (as in after being asked you say: didnt you read the rules? if you ask again you are banned and next time he would get banned sins he has been directly told and advised about this) like to start with, if any one can't search by there own on the net well they are likely to ask more than 2 times cos even if you search for "bikini" im shur you will have at least one site that has ROM in it so...... well any ways shut up slayer7.666! sins im off subject lol

Since downloading, owning, copying, or sharing ROM's is illegal PERIOD (Except for those designated as PD), I don't see why it was necessary.
Just tell them they'll get caught by the man eventually and they'll regret it when that day comes. Thats what I tell everyone who emails me from my website.
