Hello, I am trying to hack the old Playstation Tomb Raider games, specifically the first 2. I plan on changing textures in the game, but I have run into a problem. I assumed that all PSX games use the TIM format for 2D textures and I tried to use TIMViewer103c to extract the textures. However, it didn't work and then I remembered someone telling me that TR doesn't use the TIM format, but something similar. I did some research on google as to what format the PSX TR games used, and I got nothing.

So my question is, what does the PSX TR games use for texture formats? Are there programs that would allow me to rip and reinsert these textures just like there are rippers/reinserters for TIM texture games?

Also, is there anyone else out there that has/are working on PSX TR projects? Can someone link me to their project webpages?

Thank you.

Hah, that's the first thing that popped into my head when he vaguely said 'change the textures' as well. <img src=smilies/laff.gif>

Anyway, back to the topic, does anyone know what format the textures are in? I used PSicture-101 which supports TIM, PSH, SPR, and MGS formats but even that didn't find any textures.

Anyway, I'm taking a guess and saying it might be .bmp or .tga. Are there rippers/reinserters for these formats? I cannot find any.

ha. Good luck doing any kind of PSX game hacking... You'd need to extract the pics from the ISO and then reinsert them.. I don't think that is possible at all. Also, most games use all sorts of weird file formats that aren't even clost to standard...
