SwampGas

i was browsing some xangas today. pretty interesting how the buddy lists mix and mingle with each other...you can follow a thread of buddies and end up right back where you started, or you could follow it to find a chain of friends you've never heard of.

it made me think...how do these people meet? how do they become friends?

i've never had the luxury of making friends online. everybody i know knows me because i'm the almighty swampgas that owns zophar's domain....and that's how the meet me and that's how they know me.

my real life friends are like "whooptiefreakingdoo you own zd". some don't even know about it. that's the way i like it.

i've always wondered what it would be like to NOT be someone "famous" or "in the spotlight". to just be another person in the crowd where someone would get to know sam before they get to know swampgas. there's quite a difference.

and in other bad news, money is coming up real short. i blew all my savings furnishing my new place...and i just finished a big web project, so now that income is over with. i need some big clients and i need them pronto. there's GOTTA be a way to make money and make a living doing what i do and knowing what i know. now the trick is to figure it out. i have several ideas, but they all require capital which i don't have.

Maybe you could try for some grants or talk to investors or something?

If it makes any difference, I never gave a fuck. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>

On the friends part, I'm pretty sure it's all chance. I've never been in that position. I'm afraid any advice I'd give would be worthless. It just seems common interests generate friendships.

On the money part, you're damned good at what you do. Go out and do some self-promotion..take an ad out, even if it's in the classifieds. You need to push yourself (as a product, basically). This is something I'm sure you can do.
