View Full Version : ZD IS ON A NEW SERVER

In light of a recent DDoS against our last host, I've finally moved us to a new server....loooooong after I had already made the decision and made the appropriate hardware/collocation agreements.

This also means we now have full control over every aspect of the system. One of our biggest problems was our inability to effectively add/remove accounts...we can do that easily now. I hope having us on our own system helps us to keep the site semi up-to-date.

Before you start, don't badmouth our former host. They took a lot of shit from us (especially me) and did a good job. We would not be here at all if not for them.

So now you could install fudforum, like you had planned before ZTNet restricted it, yes?

That's the general plan. I just need people to redo the entire site. We have years and years and years and YEARS of garbage, junk, outdated and incorrect stuff on the site.

Nice, that way you will have more liberty in your actions or projects.
As, for the last host, I say they did pretty well, no complains here.

If you need help with any of that, I'll be around. :)

What I need help with is making the rest of the site work. This is an emu site, not a message board site.

Excellent, as soon as I can contact you I'll see what I can do about setting up the music and emu databases, since we're now in control...

Is this why I couldn't connect to the servers last night? I was trying to reply to a post in Diaries, and it kept on Timing Out or some crap like that...

No...you probably didn't hit the change until you woke up this morning.

If you know someone who has a hosted site and they want to move off of ztnet, have them PM or email me. All hosted sites are still on ztnet.

I've offered to help in the past - and was told I had to get your approval. :) I guess this would be the time; as it seems you're much more active with things.

I'd really like to help in any way possible - no bullshit.
