Well, here I am, a few days after the wreck. Physically, I've been hit by some virus or something. Mentally, boy am I bummed.
<dd>I'm looking at the options of either going into the National Guard and ROTC (yep, both of 'em, it can be done), or not finishing college. My folks have just about completely severed financial help. My father now refuses to co-sign on the loan that would've taken me from here to the end of next school year, and my mom (not step-mom) doesn't have the credit to do so.
<dd>Yahoo. I get to go through basic instead of attending Spring Quarter. Well, I get to be myself for only a few more weeks. Then the current me gets destroyed and is replaced by some other thing. When that time comes, I won't be able to post for awhile, or work on m' hack.

Not quickly enough. Well, I find out tomorrow.
What I need is about 25-hundred within a matter of weeks to attend next quarter and to find another place to stay. Likely, I'll do the dorms; it's cheaper overall, and I don't mind the food in the dining hall.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing tomorrow. I head in and see what the hell I can do.
Here's what blows chunks: basic training (which'll destroy the personality I have at this time), getting a term behind, I must spend 4 years with the army after graduation
Here's what's good: next year, I'll have tution paid in full, and will be getting somewhere between $800 and $1,200 a month
Here's why these benefits do not necessarily outweigh the blowing chunks: war is looming the horrizon, I am opposed to war, I'm not too enthused about getting screamed at in and out all day every day for a number of weeks, I'm gonna have to quickly whip this body into shape, I'm gonna have to cut my hair (just when it was starting to get long, too <img src=smilies/crying.gif>)

Dude, if you're
1) Against the war
2) Afraid of losing your personality
3) Wanting long hair
Why are you joining the army? Is it the money?

Well, yeah, I'm finding myself with fewer and fewer other options. Not pleased about it at all.

Damn, I am sorry to hear about this. I've been there. If you're faced with quitting college or going into ROTC, definitely do not bail out on school. I know guys who have made a lot out of themselves by joining the armed forces to pay for college. Stay up.
