I'm going to watch all five movies of Star Wars this weekend. It's something that I haven't gotten around to (never seen one) and I've decided that it's about time I do so. Revenge of the Sith looks really sweet, but it'd be stupid to watch that one first.

Any suggestions as to get "authentic" DVD versions of Star Wars, and not the box set edition that has all sorts of modifications made to it?

Get the originals, of course. If nothing else, watch the special editions, but not the super maxi ultra mega super special edition that was recently released. Those just suck, and the 'young anakin' at the end is an abomination.

If you really want the "old skool" versions, you'll have to either go VHS or get the LaserDisc transfers (that are on DVD) from Hong Kong.

The "origional" special editions are only available on VHS, unless they've been transferred to DVD, which I doubt.

Just grab a 6 pack of brewski's, the 5 DVD's you can get from Future Shop or somewhere cheap, sit down in front of the TV with some Nacho's or Popcorn/whatever floats your boat, and enjoy <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>

When they releas the box with all of the six movies I pray to whatever god that exists that they take a look at the alien quadrilogi (spelling might be wrong) box, on that you had one dvd with both the original and special version on so no need for swaping dvds if you want to see them both (I have done so, I was sick during a weekend and had nothing to do)...
I want the originals and not only the crazy special editions...

One question to you who have seen the newest realeses, I have heard that they have changed the face of vader when he dies to match the newest movie? is this really so?

Yes. They colored Sebastian Shaw's eyes to match that of Hayden Christensen, and then at the end where Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin are in spirit form, they removed Sebastian Shaw and replaced him with Hayden Christensen's spirit. It looks idiotic.

Well, I mean, why break continuity? I mean, sure, that continuity wasn't there before, but....I dunno.

Read this (http://www.prillaman.net/starwarsdvdreview-bootleg4.html). It seems to be the highest-quality DVD bootleg available of the first trilogy in its original form. $30 isn't much to pay, either. I'm considering buying that package myself (or perhaps instead this (http://www.prillaman.net/starwarsdvdreview-bootleg3.html) one).

Hope that helps.
