If you downloaded my Super Metroid hack, off of a reply from the Alliance thread, you would have noticed that it was corrupted. Sorry if it caused problems/dissapiontment. I'm making a new hack, (and I started keeping things more organized.) but I had a problem when I tried to put two doors next to each other in the same room to seperate them, ie. the lower portion of $9AD9. thanks for your help. BTW, I started a new hack because the old one had coultless problems, and I have attached the latest version of my new hack, (Use it with the JU version.) it goes until you get bombs. Don't mind the map, you won't need it. It's not really a hardtype, but it is a bit harder. Oh, and some of the graphics were hacked, I changed the names of your stuff in your inventory. You can get up to 15 missiles, and 1 energy tank.

Pretty nice hack!
I liked your old one, aside the bugs.
For being a non-pro, this is good. Keep going and make it better.

Re-reading your post here, I fail to see what help you're asking for (unless it's specifically the two doors in that one room) . . . If that's the case, I'll look at it when I get back to MA (in around 4 hours). If it's other help you are looking for, please specify...

Yeah, but not in that particular room. How can I do it to other rooms? (The instance where two doors seperate one room into two parts.)
I don't exactly need it though, it would just be cool. OH, I'll post a new version of my hack after I finish the spore spawn, and crockmire parts.

Like in SMILE when there is two doors, and they are right next to each other, in the same room. In the game they look like normal doors leading to another room, except these lead to the one (in the same room) right next to it

Those aren't actually used that way... It's more of a decoration. Both doors do work, but you can only access the one side due to the scrolls (plus, you enter a different room while entering the door, so you never truly get to the other side).

My guess (a lame one at that), is that these were going to be left simply as huge rooms, but the designers decided to add a few extra rooms to the game . . . The basic blueprint of the room you'd be entering is there, but it's not actually used as the room you enter (god only knows why, because it could be).

Mind you, you really don't want to do that, because you need to have a non-scrolling (red) area behind your door or things get screwy.

Huh? you mean there are two seperate Brinstar Main Shafts cause that...
Actually how do they do that it's just odd unless the Etcoon chamber is actually a differant room from the Brinstar Main Shaft, and yet being access directly!?
That is weird, howabout the door takes you to a new room except the new room is the same room your in, just a differant door entry point and as such all properties that reset on doors are reset. So say you could see the other side of the door and there was a Zeela there and you froze it then go through the door before it unfreezes it would dissapear and go back to it's starting location. Ofcourse I don't think you can get that to happen as doors need to be on the edge of the screen.
Ultimately out side of strange instanses were they didn't just use two rooms or one without doors, AI that odd locking door, what would you need it for?
That is unless he wants a series of room that can be accessed by the normal doors that have enemy locks, but then have a bomb shaft that can bypass them and enter each room without the doors. However mainting direct scrolling between all when in the bomb shaft but single contained room when out of it, yet it's all pretty much on the same screen. Orcourse it could be done but I'm thinking you'd need to put the shaft just off the bottom so it changes scroll but leaves the upper rooms visable then locate the bombable exits/entrys at a point where the doors scroll off screen so as not to be able to enter a door when it isn't at the edge of the screen.

Although all of this is just speculation and hypothosis and conjecture, and I can only speculate at how Super Metroid does things.

You can get from the eticoons to the main shaft, without going through any doors . . . Just not the other way around. Just have to make sure there's a non-scrolling screen behind the door, that's all.

I believe Insomnia was referring more to doors where you have 2 door bubbles almost connecting, like this ---> (|)

Oh, but doesn't the game never use that. I mean the only time it actually happens in game is odd scrolls in the crateria overworld nere the wrecked ship entrance and that little cave when viewed from outside. Plus you could never reach them anyway.
Besides isn't it impossable to open a door from the wrong side, so you couldn't open it anyway.

Most people won't know how to move the pointers around well enough to use this update efficiently, so I'll post it here, instead of making a new thread for it:

-Add new rooms by saving an existing room to a new location (the $7#### values you click on to open a room)
-Add/remove enemies from a room (adjust pointers or you'll overwrite stuff)
-Add/remove PLM's from a room (again, adjust pointers or you'll overwrite stuff)
-Fixed a few bugs

I'll take the opportunity to post my newest version of my hack, now that this thread is bumped up a bit.

Inside this .rar file is all you will need to play this hack besides the rom, and a patching tool. You will however need to use the enclosed save.
