Man, I just saw the most pathetic thing ever. A beat-up 50's truck, with barely a fleck or two of its original blue paint left on - the rest being rust - with no actual truckbed to speak of, just particle board duct-taped together, with no muffler or catalytic converter (so it's EXTREMELY loud), backfiring every other second, driven by these mullet-headed rednecks with no shirts.

When you get to such a station in life, isn't the government supposed to just step in and put you to sleep? You can bet that they're coming back from the welfare office to get cash for the supplies to their meth lab, too.

I don't think you should use the welfare office as an insult..I mean, sure there's people that abuse it, but then there's people that abuse practically anything. I guess I just say this because I know a few people who are using the welfare system and are in the process of getting back on their feet right now. And that's how it should be used.

But anyway, um, yeah, so rednecks...did they have a pine tree air freshener tied to the car anywhere? I think that'd complete their whole 'ensemble' there.

I dunno, maybe some research into the definition of "context" is in order, as I obviously did not use the welfare office as an insult, I used going to the welfare office to get money to go buy supplies to make meth as an insult. Unless, of course, you were defending the latter, in which case I shall be forced to laugh at you.

Oh yeah, OF COURSE...I know if I went to the welfare office that I'd use the money to make crystal meth. I mean, who WOULDN'T?

Have you ever considered the idea that people, rather than neatly sorting themselves into categories ripe for your condemnation, are actually doing the best they can with what they were given?

Sadly welfare is more of a limiting crutch than it is a "step" towards something better.

For once I agree with you. My older sister used welfare for years...she never did anything to better herself while she was on it. Sadly, that's the case for MOST of the people who get it.

Yeah, I consider it for a moment, and I do feel bad. But then it's quite hilarious shortly thereafter, because frankly, laughing at these people is all I have left. Don't even start in on "doing the best they can", because buddy, I can top it. It stops being an issue of "doing the best they can" and starts becoming an issue of intruding on my own life when I have to hear their rusted-out shitbox blasting noxious fumes and deafening the neighborhood, and when I mistakenly think there are guns being fired from three blocks away because the same rusted-out shitbox backfires every five seconds. Hey, you know what the "best they can do" is? The best they can do is to walk places, or sell the rusted-out shitbox for scrap and buy a bicycle (or perhaps a shirt). It isn't even legal for them to be driving that thing in the first place, the town has laws about having to have a hooked-up muffler and catalytic converter for a reason, so the "best they can do" is not what they're doing now.

Oh, I know it's sad. Everyone deserves a chance, and everyone is a crisp, unique snowflake, beautiful and flawless. Yeah, right. Let me ask you, have you ever had to live next to rednecks running a meth lab out of their house, with people coming and going at all hours of the night, having people constantly whooping and hollering and throwing beer cans onto your property, but the police can't do anything about it because they don't actively witness anything going on? Have you had to live two doors down from a two-story house that's been turned into four-apartment where, among other things you're startled awake in your own house almost every Saturday by cop cars pulling up with their sirens on because the guy in one of the four apartments who's on permanent disability due to mental incompetence and general psychosis has been beating his girlfriend or has been beating on another neighbor or who has been starting a fight with other people and is walking in the middle of the street, ranting and screaming profanities? From this same place, have you had to deal with rednecks who throw their clothes over their neighbor's clothesline and never secure it so that it constantly blows onto your property, and these same rednecks have two dogs that are never chained up so you get barked at and menaced by a big fucking rottweiler every time you take out your trash, and these same rednecks have never heard of trash bags, so you always have to pick up the Wal-Mart (naturally) plastic bags that have blown onto your property? And furthermore, does this same place have a crackhead who always comes around reeking of dope asking to borrow $20? Because, frankly, if you haven't had the experiences I've had dealing with the poorest, trashiest levels of society and are simply basing your opinions on what other bleeding-hearts want you to think, it occurs to me that you don't have a god damn right to opine on what I should and should not feel about these situations.

Speaking of which, where was your righteous indignation at Flash's periodic stories about what "The Gobbler" was doing? Obviously, this Gobby fellow isn't really in the haute couture of society, so why don't you go piss and moan at Flash about how he needs to treat everyone as the fragile, unique, blemish-free snowflakes that they are? Is it because somehow you feel that it's alright to run your mouth off at me without knowing the whole of the situation but you just don't want to do it to a moderator? Really, inquiring minds want to know.

I don't think Ice would have acted any differently had he seen a woman get hit by a man. If you wanna stand by and watch that shit be my guest.
As far as your welfare remarks are concerned, you can go to hell. My mom had to collect welfare for three years after my dad left and she lost her job.
She got off it. She's driving a 99 Blazer. And she doesn't have a mullett.

Good job, Flash, my friend. You're the second person in this thread who has acted pissy about my welfare comment without making the connection that I only condemn people who are on welfare and use it to buy drug supplies. Did your mother use welfare to buy drug supplies? I highly doubt it, so I wasn't referring to her, now sit down.

Yes, I know...but it doesn't mean it's that way for everyone. I personally never want to have to use such a thing, but I'm sure some people benefit from it. I know the person I'm thinking of is trying to get a job, they may have a nice office one (to use their office skillz)...hopefully they get it because it'd be really good for them.

As far as your context was concerned, the original inferrence was an insult - but of course, you don't have to apologize for that. I need to apologize for not reading your mind....cause you really didn't make it clear what exactly was aggravating you.
One point: Not every redneck driving a rusted pick-up around with no shirt and a bad haircut is going to the welfare office to pick up some cash to keep the meth lab going - some of them work for a living.

P.S. 'lm not sitting down.

It's a horrifying thought that anyone would employ the people that I've dealt with.

But this country needs Rednecks because without them Willie Nelson and loretta Lynn couldn't buy their private jets and have 20 $5 million mansions throughout the country .It is people who spend money like this that are jumpstarting Bush's economic recovery plan= Rednecks buy country music cd's that support rich country music singers who are going to save our economy!

Of course; Brad just meant that he hoped the part about Willie Nelson saving America was tounge-in-cheek, which I'm sure it was. =P
