Have you seen the new jetta (newjetta.com)? Looks pretty sweet..mid level price is only $22,000...probably talk to down to $21k or 20k. If it wasn't 2.5 liter and 150hp, I might consider getting one.
All of the "common" cars are getting the neat features only luxury cars used to have.

Not bad looking I might say...I still prefer the current Jetta. But they all look good...now if they make sure and come out with the VR6 with turbo and shiz the new Jetta should be quite a sexy car.

Heh, I own a 1991 diesel Jetta. Goes ~500mi (800km) on 10-12 gallons of fuel. Currently at 500,000km (I'm from .ca, forgive the units). Running great, although the engine block leaks a bit of oil and it's got a bit of a tendency to have sooty exhaust. My dad and I suspect it may be turbo problems, but others believe it may be just engine wear. Dunno.
But yeah, VW's made me its bitch. I will purchase a VW car in the future, likely a Jetta TDI.

Diesel is more expensive than regular unleaded...if I put premium in I get more miles for more dollars, however, if you setup a ratio from the extra miles to the extra cost it all evens out in the end.

Its true.
I own a 1991 Infiniti Q45, which used to be one of the more luxurious cars available, if Im not mistaken. Now, the features it features are far more common. I do like it though, big, pretty fast, and comfortable. I will probably buy Infiniti/Nissan for the rest of my life. They have treated me well.

I'll always own at least one Nissan product. I'm keeping my SE-R when I buy a new vehicle. Nissan's have always treated me well...I've own(ed) 4. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>

Wow. Here in Canada, it's cheaper to run diesel than gas. On top of that, I fill my car's tank with marked diesel (no road tax) from our company's fuel tanks for our logging equipment, so I get it even cheaper. ^_^

Wow.
Even cheaper everywhere to run leg power. Yes, at my advanced age, I ride a friggin' bike. Know why?
Oil companies are stealing from everyone. Ain't gettin' shit off me..\
Jetta is a wonderful choice, btw. They're like Audis from ten years ago.
Still sexay.

Impressive. However, when the bike ride into town takes an hour and a half and involves a hell of a big hill, that option starts becoming less feasible. ;) If I lived in a city, I'd ride my bike all over the place (and I did when I lived in residence at BCIT).

Riding on the bike paths along the edge of Manhattan or through Central Park is nice, but I try to ride in actual city traffic as little as possible, since it can get a bit hairy in busy areas, even with the occasional bike lane. I'm reminded of a cartoon I once saw in the New Yorker magazine, showing a cab with a row of bicycles stencilled on the side. (For anyone who's unfamiliar with it, it's a reference to how fighter pilots used to stencil in on the sides of their planes' fuselages a small enemy flag to mark each enemy plane they shot down.)
