SPC Soundfonts

I'm wanting to toy around with which soundfont a particular .spc reads. I've seen this done before...I remember seeing Evil Peer post something somewheres, having ran the FFVI track Wild West through the Chronotrigger soundfont (rather foreboding-sounding result).

Tried renaming and moving files about...no luck. Suggestions/know-how?
