I was wondering if there was a special WIP or configuration I could use to stop the constant flashing on Zsnes in the StarFox2 Beta ROM.

The game looks really great.... Its a shame it was never released.

I could've sworn they fixed the flickering issue

They have. Version 1.42 doesn't flicker. I haven't tested enough to look for the freezing issues that plagued previous versions though.

It locks up within 2 seconds if you try fastforwarding at all (It's probably more stable if you don't fastforward... but blech). Plus it still has other weird oddities in it.

I'm a big fan of ZSNES... but I still prefer to use the special SNES9X build which runs this game almost perfectly. SNES9X v1.41-1 I believe.

Anyway... I have yet to play a full game without ZSNES crashing... and I have yet to play any game where that build SNES9X crashed (except for once... but judging by the scenario I'm willing to bet it was an ingame problem and not an emulator problem) -- and I have played this game a LOT.

And yes... this game is very freaking awesome -- if you use http://agtp.romhack.net/starfox2.htmlAeon Genesis' patch you cna't even tell the game was an unreleased beta or whatever it is.

There're still some here and there. I find that most can be avoided by rewinding the game back using the rewind button (must configure via the GUI before it'ts enabled) and just replaying the moments before that crash. This of course works only on the non-fatal ones, that don't just explode the whole emulator. :P

I wish it didn't crash, but I think it's cool they're trying to do it without any funky hacks or anything....I remember hearing that's how Snes9x did it in that build. I'd think if someone had totally figured out the SFX2 they'd be sharing their code...the devvers of SNES9x and Zsnes seem to help each other and cooperate with each other very nicely.

*edit*
Oh, and note to Mr. Robitussin...make certain you're using a good dump of the game....there are a LOT of bad ones floating about. The best one in the GoodSNES set is StarFox 2 (Beta TD), while the one in NSRT StarFox 2 Private Build is the best one.....actually, if you run NSRT -fix on Beta TD it'll fix it for you. I think I just said that in some thread or another, but I can't remember which one. O_o

If you actually want to play StarFox 2, keep a copy of Snes9x 1.43 around. I've tried it, and it's damn near perfect. Great game too, it's a real pity that Nintendo never released it.

I agree...just when you think there's not that much too it, you try it on harder difficulty levels and it's a whole new ballgame.
