I'm looking for a GBA accessory I once heard of awhile back...basically, it plugs into the link port on the GBA and can transfer saves to and from whatever cart is plugged into it...I think I recall it being called a memory stick or some such thing but I can't remember the name of it and can't find it for the life of me.

Does anyone know what this thing is called?

you can buy them at xinga.com, possibly other places. I got one cause a dude mailed me one of the many he bought, in an attempt to RE the stick to store homemade roms. nobody has got it to succesfully work.

it's pretty cool, you stick it in, multiboot to it (hold select+start I forget how) and a menu comes up. it will copy the save from most any game (eeprom, flash, sram etc) but will only copy it back to a cartridge of the same type. ie it won't copy the contents of a real eeprom cart to your sram flash cart. but you can store say 100 game files in it and upload/download it to your cart whenever. I can email the guy, I bet he'd ship one to you for say $5-$10 gladly if he's got any left.

Ah yeah, that sounds like the thing I was thinking of...so you couldn't say...transfer a save from my flash cart which is using SRAM to say...Minish Cap using Flash or vice versa? That's basically the reason I would want it, for the most part, although it is kinda cool all in itself.

it sucks cause yeah it has the code to access all sorts of save types, but it does a check to make sure each type is identical. so it could actually do it, but it refuses to. the rom on the stick can be dumped, so you could possibly hack it and make it not check, then run it as a multi boot or perhaps figure out how to reflash the stick (it is possible somehow.) but no it saw my flash card as a sram type and wouldn't copy to an actual cart.

Aw, that sucks....oh well. I wonder if a Gameshark might be able to do this. I read on the box it can backup and save back to the carts saves....although, I seem to recall some odd incompatibility with the DS and Gamesharks (or maybe it was Action Replay?) in that it sees the thing as a "DS Option Pak". Rather annoying...it sees my flashcart as one once in awhile....although, it'd probably help if it wasn't one of the older visoly ones....I um, actually shaved down the plastic so it'd fit in the cart slot. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>
