bought a new belt...grabbed the jeans that actually fit me (i wear a size or 2 too large for comfort)...grabbed some new extra long baggy shirts...blew about $100 on clothes.
so here i sit getting ready. i have a condition 1 (fully loaded with round in the chamber...i just take it out and pull the trigger) weapon on my right hip, a fully loaded mag in my spare mag carrier on my left hip...for fellow gun owners, i got ahold of 2 preban 15 round mags...adding a +2 extension on them...and them topping off the mag after chambering a round...so i have 17+1 in the pistol and another 17 rounds in the spare mag. the limit for my gun's legal and safe capacity.
i keep checking in the mirror to see if i'm printing or not...
my 2 week certification course starts today at 6pm...
getting myself ready for my first journey into the real world.
this is the first time i've ever had a loaded weapon ready to fire at my disposal...on my hip...in the holster...waiting. it really makes you think. am i capable of taking someone's life to save my own? am i willing to even draw the weapon if the situation arises?
i'm planning to take several defense courses from ayoob (check his site at ayoob.com). the basic LFI-1 course is "judicious use of deadly force" where they REQUIRE a background check on you before they'll tell you anything...the second part of that course is stress test firing. $700.
by 2004 i hope to have taken LFI-1 through 3 and am ready for LFI-4...which costs $1500 and is only offered every 3 years because of its intensity. they drain a pint of blood from you to get you light headed, dizzy and tired, inject you with epinephrine to get some adrenaline-like rush going, and then have you do an extreme stress fire simulation. you are also required to train law enforcement candidates.
unfortunately, i can't discuss this with anyone face to face, since it would compromise the entire reason for carrying (noone is supposed to know), and my friend who has a firearm has been MIA for 3 months...he could be dead for all i know. looks like i'm stuck talking to myself in the diaries section.
