it's about fricken time too! i've been job searching for 3/4ths of a year now, and i finally get a job.

anyways, the job: Bus Cleaner.
what i do: clean busses, duh. it's on the graveyard shift, which makes life rather complicated, especially on sundays. to be more precise, i'm cleaning charter busses.

DAY ONE: (or maybe i should call it NIGHT ONE? anyways...)

i woke up at noon this day, because i had completed my interview just the day before (hehe, talk about getting on the job fast... i walked into the interview and had the job already)

anyways, i go through my daily routine, knowing full well that my day won't be ending until 7 am the next day, and then i go in to work at 10 pm.

since it was my first day, i am training, the first bus was a training bus, and so it wasn't messy at all. we work through the busses until we get to the 5th or 6th bus, i can't quite remember which one, but guess what we found in the toilet of this bus: a beer can clogging it up so that Al, one of my coworkers, had to take the entire toilet compartment apart in order to get it out...

before that bus i had had to go in to the supervisors office to fill in some additional paperwork.

after that bus we took lunch break, and then my dad, who also works for this company as a bus driver, comes in from a run... well, actually he came in before that, but he stayed for a little while into the lunch break and talked to us. he also gave us a present: me a caffeine free dew, and the other cleaners cokes, left by the people who had been on the bus.

we then go back to work. and then another driver comes in and tells us that a bus wasn't clean and he was supposed to be taking it out right then! so we hurried through that bus which was actually the last bus on the list...

we finally get to the 9th bus, the last bus of the day, and it was a pigstie! the thing is, the other cleaners tell me it was nothing... i am not looking forward to finding out what "dirty" is, since they said it was clean...

anyways, the last bus had been a bus used by some university kids, and it had scraps of food on the seats and floor, had at least three trash bags filled and overflowing onto the floor, cans of all kinds of beverages on the seats, under the seats, half full, empty, or barely drank out of. it was a joy to clean.

anyways. just don't do any of that stuff okay! no beer cans in bus toilets or food litter all over the floor, there is a reason why they have garbage compartments on these busses.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

despite the rant above about lazy and disgusting people, i really had a good first day at work, more than anything, i'm just glad to finally be working and therefore getting money. i'm sick of being broke :)

i'll be making over 8 dollars an hour as starting pay, so i suppose i can put up with the disgusting things people do

McDonalds doesn't pay that well. He made the better decision, this way he won't have to deal with asshole customers.

Awesome. I remember how long it took ME to find a job...quite awhile, it's awesome news to hear you got one, I know how I felt. It's not fair though...you make more than I do and I've been working there for awhile...although I am garunteed a raise every six months.

last night/this morning was much easier, but then, i was more awake because of becoming a little more adjusted to the new schedule.

yesterdays dirty bus was todays rip the pants bus. yes, literally. i had to change a set of seats around and put a card table in. whilst fighting with the blasted seat bench trying to get it to drop into the pins my pants ripped. i finished working with a pair of pants that had a rip in the butt and groin, and a torn knee. lots of fun, especially in temperatures ranging from 1 to 6 below.
