go to Edit Profile

click Basic Profile

go to the box that says Your Picture, and put in the web address of the avatar you want to use.

save it up, and everything should be a-okay

Um..forums much? It's called an Avatar. Go to Edit Profile > Basic Profile. Look for "Your Picture". That's where you put the URL of the avatar.

Please, keep it small. If it's too big, people will yell at you and flame you and ultimately refuse to respond to any of your posts intelligently.

Simple: click "Edit Profile" at the top of the page, then hit "Basic Profile". Scroll down that page until you get to "Your Picture", and type in the url in the box provided. A note of caution, though, the 65x75 pixel limit no longer applies, but it's wisest to keep your avatar under 100px wide, because otherwise it'll bugger up the table every time someone looks at your posts.

Also, we tend not to really use colour text here, even though the facility's there to do so. Black works fine ;)
