View Full Version : GSFLIB... what?

First of all, I'm new, and I admit that I joined just so I could ask my question. Now that that's over with...

Okay, I have my Highly Advanced plugin installed and presumably working (WinAmp doesn't randomly crash on me or anything). And I've downloaded a few GSF music RARs from the site (the three MegaMan Zero games, if it matters). Thing is, the RARs give me .gsflib files, and HA wants .gsf or .minigsf files, and I have no idea how to resolve this.

Since I don't see this asked anywhere else, I'm guessing the solution is obvious to most people. Unfortunately, I am not most people, and so I need help. What do I do with a .gsflib file?

if it's anything like the PSF format the GSFlib file is needed for minigsfs to play. gsflib contains the samples, and the minigsfs contain the "notes" so to speak

It'd be more accurate to say that the minigsfs contain an index specifying which song from the gsflib to play.
But the principle is correct, you need the .minigsf files as well as the .gsflib file to play the music.

Ahh. In that case, my problem's not the one I thought it was; instead of having files in the wrong format, I'm missing files. Time to redownload, I guess.

Out of curiosity...did you double check to make sure they are there? It's possible Winamp is just not showing them in the file list....it likes to do that sometimes when slightly buggy plug-ins screw up the file list.

Nah, the program I was using to extract my RARs was just a piece of crap. I got WinRAR, problem solved.

I've had the minigsf's to Astro Boy sitting for a good few months and could not listen to them.

I always thought there was something wrong with the plugin or my combination of plugins for winamp.

Never did I realize all I wanted to do was to unrar the gsflib file.
Until now, that is. So I just registered to say thank you all.
