View Full Version : Mac (OS X) emulation and Emu Enhancer

To all:

There's a lot of good emulators for various consoles on PCs. But just like the game selection for Mac OS X is limited, so the emulators are limited as well... Anyway, if anyone's familiar with Mac emulation, please read on.

I tried the various emulators created by Mr Bannister, and found they all worked well on my iBook with 512 mb RAM. However, to make the most of the emulators, his Emulator Enhancer program is required. I've downloaded it, but I can't even get it to start up. After unzipping it (w/StuffIt), a file called Emulator Enhancer.bundle appear. It won't open. Not with my Mac's standard StuffIt, and not with the $80 expanded version of StuffIt.

If anyone knows how to get a .bundle file to work, please let me know. Thanks for listening.

oh fucking please
windows (NT based) is a nice fucking OS if you know what you're fucking doing, just like Linux kicks ass if you know what you're doing

what windows has that the other OSes don't is a lot better software support

and did I mention windows? He could put a *nix OS on a PC for all I care, as long as it isn't a god damn mac

Mac OS X is based largely on Darwin, a version of BSD Unix. (related closely to freebsd)

Only if you like paying for more shitty software.

Linux has plenty of software support and most of it is FREE. Fuck WinDOS.

I guess people around here love to just post flamebait and then debate it rather than trying to answer the question at hand.

dorkatlarge, I don't have a Mac that I can test on, but from what I've read .bundle files are just shared libraries (metapkg.org) (http://www.metapkg.org/wiki/12). Just copy the file into the same directory as the executables for those emulators and see if that gets them to run properly. If that fails you might also try renaming it to Emulator Enhancer.so

To Goro:

Thanks for replying. You said, "...from what I've read .bundle files are just shared libraries (metapkg.org). Just copy the file into the same directory as the executables for those emulators and see if that gets them to run properly. If that fails you might also try renaming it to Emulator Enhancer."

I briefly looked at the page and noticed a lot of Unix related terms... so thank you very much for helping me interpret all that. I know a good amount about Macs and PCs, but not most of that.

I'll try your suggestion in a day or two. If I fail or if I succeed, I'll mention it in another post - either to help others or to ask for help.

1. who says I pay for it?
2. who says it's shitty... I have no problems with my software (except for maybe the carmageddon series)
