Hey all, I've sumbled upon a problem with Project 64. Whilst playing Goemon's Great Adventure, when I went ot the underwater areas this weird black ugly looking thing covered the most of the screen showing only the status bar, does anyone know how fix this? Next off on Wipeout 64 the game runs smoothly and all but sometimes the road change to some weird blurred mucked up mess which doesn't affect the game at all but its just annoying to look at. Lastly this is not an N64 but I got the Boktai for VBA I got the sun patch as well but I can't get pass the damn intro as it keeps going until after a few seconds the wrods "The Solar Sensor is broken" appears. Anyone know how can rid of it?

For Both: PC specs and plug-ins used please.

Well, of course, it's not detecting the solar sensor because the ROM does not have it. I suppose you'd have to find a patch to hack around that, but this kind of defeats the entire purpose of having the solar sensor in that game. I feel the best way to get around this is to....

Buy the cartridge.

And um, for the love of all that is holy and good in this world...find a smaller avatar that doesn't take up the whole screen. I'm at a res of 1600x800 (widescreen) and it still takes up nearly the whole screen.

I would love to buy the cartridge... if the game wasn't so damn rare where I'm from >.<

As for the Project 64 problems I using the default Direct X card included with the emulator on another note I mention this as well the emulator keeps giving me an error that it can't locate the file Daedalus.ini

Huh? Deadalus is the name of another emulator entirely...what's the name of the plug-in exactly? Look in the configuration part of PJ64's menu.

Hm, I don't know why PJ64 would reference the N64 emulator Deadalus unless you are really using Deadalus or perhaps a video plug-in from that emulator.

Well keeps coming up with it Unable to read the file of disk, how annoying.

And I am using the default DirectX plugin with all its default settings meaning no extra speed ups or anything.

It must be the default DircetX plugin becuase on the Video configuration it just says Render Engine: Direct X

Um, hm...this may sound stupid, but are you absolutely certain you're using PJ64? Here's what PJ64 looks like on the config screen. There's no plug-in at all called Render Engine: DirectX. Now, if you're using Rice's Video, you can choose either OpenGL or DX, but that's not the default plug-in of PJ64....I'm kinda confused here.

I checked again I'm using Rice's Video plug-in just doesn't show me, silly me :)

EDIT: But on another note I changed to Jabo's Plug-In and the same thing happens I don't know what the heck is going on...

I'm not sure then. What I'd do is go to our archives, download the latest PJ64, go http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=20484&page=1here</a> and download the latest PJ64 INI from this site (it's not official, but it's got fixes etc in addition to the one that comes with PJ64), and then download and extract Rice's Video into your plug-in directory and see if you still get that problem.

I still got that annoying problem, the problem probably only occurs becuase the game uses some sort of overlay this sort of problem happens to me as well when I use certain attacks in Paper Mario, ugly blurred up black blob appears instead of the correct overlay.

EDIT: When I mean by overlay I mean the forground layer that goes above everything, incase you don't know.

O_O Oh, I thought you were talking about the Deadalus thing still....I'd mess with the blending settings etc and see if that helps. With Rice's Video, try using different combiners, like if your card supports it, try Pixel Shader...I've had good luck with that and partial pixel shader.

Oh yeah... about the Daedal... wahtever thing, it appears I also accidently added the Rice's Daedal... whatever it is Video card; whoopsie.

Okay I tried playing around with setting a bit and now this ugly black square appears on a majority of the gameplay scene anyone know the setting in order to remove it or make it at least reveal what it's supposed to be?

That square is something not rendering right...it's probably something you'll have to figure out for that game.

Hmm.... yeah I tried other rendering setting but that damn square won't dissappear. I tried using the wire frame mode and the square dissappears but everything starts to look ulgy, laying as a wireframe is not pretty.

w00t I got the ugly square to dissappear but the game slows down majorly and also weird groovy looking colors appear and the top of the screen. On another note the status bar dissappears to. Now how on earth do I fix that!?

EDIT: Actually wait it doesn't slow down but those colors are annyoing plus being unable to see that status screen is a pain as well.

Well what setting did you change?

Well to get rid of the square I turned on the Normal Combiner and Normal Blender options. On another note, when you do this on Jabo's plug - in it doesn't work. And actually it does slow down, didn't seem to that the first time I did it...

Ah, that's what I was talking about before...the combiner can do this, as can blending...some games like normal blending, others like the other settings. I'm not really sure what to tell ya. other than to do what you're doing..play with settings, or even try another plug-in entirely. Hell, if you want, even try that OpenGL Plug-in and use the glidewrapper E-Voodoo with it. :P

I wish ya luck.
