View Full Version : Life... What would you deem most important?

Right now I'm a 19 year old college senior to be... (I'll be 20 next month). I have approx. 2 semesters and then a part-time one after that due to some extra this and that I'll still have to take.

Anyway, I'm uncertain about lots of stuff...

For starters, I sometimes question my degree... Is it me? Bachelor of Business Administration, specifically targetted into Information Systems. Well, I do like to use computers... I can do web design and have had interest in learning to program, but the other classes involved with the degree really is irritating... I guess I should let them go.

I mainly question it because over this past year I've sort of developed a passion for music writing and sometimes wonder if I could ever get a career with that. No musical education, all self-taught. Visit my MP3.com page for samples if you're interested.

Finally, the end of college... Where will I go from there? What will I be doing? I wonder if things will be happy, dull, good, average... Who knows?

I used to have dreams of living with the girl I was talking about in my "Ugh..." topic. Everything seemed so perfect until that dark day... Now it just changes my main dream.

My main concern is if I can get the important things I want... This probably looks like a poorly written essay, but I'm confused while writing this so that's a valid excuse.

Anyway, input welcomed.

My answer is simple

Continue on with your degree and finish it. Let that be your project now, the ohter stuff will fall into place eventually. On the ohter hand, if you hate your program so much, consider transfering into another program where most of your credits will still be valid.

With that said, you cannot plan your life around another person. Doing that, you are playing with danger. Giving up on your course will leave you penniless with no job - employers do not like to see unfinished college stuff on your resume.

As for you music thing, do it in your spare time. Try and play at a night club, but that may not be possible to do. But, even if your are extremely good at doing music, the odds are against you ever making a career at it. So keep your degree program as your back up plan

Don't overthink things. Situations have popped up in my life that have forced me to make some drastic decisions. Were they the right ones? I think so.
There is no pat, wholesale answer for what you ask. We all get put in situations where we either follow our hearts or heads. I'd get the degree first and then chase the music. That way you've covered the back door. Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll do it well.

I guess so. I'm guessing I'm nearing the area of "drastic decisions".

Anyway, the music thing is more of a hobby, but considering I've entertained, that's why I felt this passion.

Oh well. I guess it'll all fall into place some way.
