Either him or this clown I'm fixing a computer for.
Guy has a Celeron 533 w/256mg ram and a 40 gig WD Harddrive his wife decided to put XP on. Haha.
She apparently has downloaded all kinds of shit, cause there's 19 versions of Windoze to boot from. Only none of them work.
I recognize the file names.
All freakin' spyware.
Oh well, aside from using WD's Data Lifeguard utility (write zeroes to drive), anyone else have any bright ideas? <img src=smilies/banghead.gif>

see if there is anything useful on the drive, zero the drive, install *nix . 'nuff said.

edit: or remove IE from their desktop, install win2k, and give them firefox to replace it. oh, install adaware and have it run at night, around 3am. tell them to leave it on too.

Don't forget to clear the Master Boot Record just incase a virus or someshit has hijacked the HDD. "fdisk /mbr" If memory serves correct.

a unix install will also do this automagiclly while installing lilo or grub. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>
