Let me preface this with I absolutely suck at making any kind of graphics unless I have something to work with and I tinker around with it. Making anything look realistic or cool comes difficult to me. I'm making a logo for a new site, and I want it to look cool. I was thinking of using the following shape but wanted to make it look metallic, in silver or gold.

So yea, basically I want something in that shape, but looking like a silver or gold medal (so it looks 3-D and tangible rather than just a shape). I dunno how easy or hard that is, but I just know that I would fail miserably if I tried. The logo itself is kinda lame right now:

At least if I had the metallic things in it, I could work off that and make it better. Can anyone help? Any help would be much appreciated!

Well, Danoz seems to be pretty good with renders. Maybe he could help you.

Do you have a high resolution PNG version of that image (the symbol one)? If so, post it and I'll see about getting you that 3D chrome effect (I don't like gold).

You might also consider using the symbol only once, but enlarged slightly and behind the text. Aesthetically, I think it'd look better.

Also, if you don't have it already, I highly recommend that you download a copy of the GIMP (http://www.gimp.org). One of the best graphics editing software available, and it's open source.

Attached. I don't like gold much either...silver would more suit me, although some chrome effect would probably be cool.

I'll have to try that. I mean I just decided yesterday that I wanted to start this website, so I haven't had a ton of time to do this yet, but I know how crap I am at making new graphics, especially something that I want semi-professional looking.

I've already got Photoshop 6.0. Yea, probably not the best tool, but it has a bunch of stuff a n00b like me can fool around with. I especially love difference clouds.

I'm at work right now, so let me get home tonight and I'll throw something together for you, to see how you like it. :)

I like doing little logos and things, so who knows?

Coolio. As you might have guessed, the site is EliteDeletes.com, and it will be a free resource with lists of expiring domain names (expired domains are often called deleted domains, hence the name of the site). I was also thinking about having wings on the ends instead of those star things. The wings might be more fitting as I would be giving people a resource to get the best names to bring back to life so to speak. I don't know though. I really liked how the text came about, but it is kind of Atari-quality text and not really good for a business logo. Blah...I dunno.

I mostly like doing artsy stuff, like my album covers n stuff...I've made 4 logos for other things so far, and don't really like any of them truth be told, This one is actually my most technologically advanced one so far, lol.
