Our local techno/dance station changed platforms to the same EXACT thing as "Kiss 106.1" which is just FUCKING BULLSHIT MUSIC THAT EVERY GOD DAMNED STATION PLAYS. IF I HEAR USHER ONE MORE FUCKING TIME I WILL RIP HIS HEAD OFF AND SHIT DOWN HIS NECK!
Anyway, since we have SHIT radio around I need some suggestions of groups/DJs/bands to try in the Techno, Dance, Trance, Rave, etc genre. I'll be getting an MP3 player for my car for the purpose of never tuning into an AM/FM station again.
The CDs I've bought/borrowed from friends are:
VNV - Empires (great band here)
Rob Dougan - Furious Angels
Darude - Before the Storm
DJ Encore singles and albums
Ian van Dahl - Lost & Found and some singles
Lichtenfels (dunno what title it is has 2 good songs on it;sounds likes a melody and kill the silence)
Robert Miles (bought 2 cds of his)
PPK singles
4 Strings singles
So all you dance music buffs out there (which includes Swamp--who might know the most lol since he IS a DJ) I need some good techno/dance. I love German and Russian shit and everything inbetween. Songs like Darude, PPK, Lichtenfels, VNV, Robert Miles, and etc are what I listen to alot. Thanks for any help you can provide. I plan on buying these songs, so I need artists and album/single names. I'll listen to the samples before I buy the high quality digital version.

Sweet I'll throw your mixes on some CDRs. This is the kind of info I needed. And PPK - Resurrection is the fucking shit! I've got the Hard Trance mix and the utterly insanely fuckingly awsome Space Club mix--I drool everytime they come up in my WinAMP rotation.

Good picks. Certain techno-tracks approach pure audio euphoria; the way the way the lines and chorus sync up in "Straight Ahead" gives me goosebumps. The same goes for Gabriel and Dresden's mix of Jewel's "Serve the Ego" -- that one rocks beyond words -- uhmmm... let's see, Deep Forest's "Deep Floresta" is great. "Lola's Theme" is awesome. "Addicted to Bass" by Puretone, Elvis & JXL's "Little Less Conversation a Little More Action", The Lost Brothers' "Cry Little Sister" mix, "Rock Your Body, Rock" by Ferry Corsten, Narcotic Thrust's "Red Blooded Woman" mix, anything by Basement Jaxx, anything by BT (pinnacle of the genre as far as technique goes, IMHO, especially Emotional Technology; try listening to "Superfabulous" and "Somnambulist".)
I've listened to plenty of techno, and ya'll owe yourselves a good listen to the aforementioned tracks. There's something almost mystical about parts of them, seriously.
God, there's lots of others. Good electronica is t3h rock.

Listen to: DJ Encore - I See Right Through to You (Extended Version), it's one of the many songs that gives me a euphoria feeling when I listen to it.
Also:
XTM & DJ Chunky - Fly on the Wings of Love
PPK - ResuRection (Space Club Mix) --> got to be one of the best ever
Lichtenfels - Sounds Like a Melody (Original) --> one of my new favorites
Ian van Dahl - Will I (Radio Edit)
Final Fantasy - I Close My Eyes (Techno Club Mix)

Ah, both classic.

This song is absolutely BITCHIN. I forgot the name of it, glad it was mentioned. Luckily, it was on Rhapsody.

> XTM & DJ Chunky - Fly on the Wings of Love
Haven't heard these yet, but I'm gonnagetem. Now, go listen to "Serve the Ego" by Gabe and Dresden. The way it all comes together right at 5:00 nearly makes me go comatose with audio savoritude.

If you want difficult (yet rewarding) music, try any of the following artists (this is IDM or electronica, my personal favorite genre for listening to):
Amon Tobin
Autechre
Aphex Twin
Boards of Canada
M83
Mu-ziq
Nobukazu Takemura
Plaid
Squarepusher
Anything else off the "Warp" or "Ninja Tune" labels.
Semi-danceable Stuff:
Add N to (x)
Cex
Eat Static
Juno Reactor
Kid 606
LAB4
Poppish and/or danceable stuff:
Basement Jaxx
Chemical Brothers
Crystal Method
Lemon Jelly
Lionrock
Orbital
Prodigy
Underworld
Industrial/metal-edged:
KMFDM
Nine Inch Nails
Ministry
White Zombie
Velvet Acid Christ
These are some of the big names. I've repeated some of the artists mentioned before, and left out a few that should have probably been mentioned. In my experience, these guys always put out good (if often hard as hell) stuff.

Speaking of the Ninja Tune label, Have you heard any Hexstatic? They've got some REMARKABLE stuff; all really cool songs built off of bizarre samples and audio clips. Listen to "Ninja Tune" (the song) and "Auto" from the album Rewind if you get the chance.
Oh, good recommendations, BTW.

Yes, and OMFG. There's not as much depth there as in a lot of other Ninja Tune tracks, but what's there is so perfectly produced... wow. The album blew me away.
Oh, and "The Horn" is awesome to blast when you're driving around town, haha.

KMFDM fuckin' rules. Especially the Angst and Money albums.
Another I'd add to that category is Fear Factory's "Remanufacture".

Hmm.....lots of great suggestions thus far, but I have a few more to add to the list:
Fluke
Blumchen
Paul Van Dyke
Paul Oakenfold
Crystal Method
Chemical Brothers
Daft Punk
DJ Apollo
BT
Prodigy
Wildchild
UltraMax
Unloco
Uhh...that's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment...but those are some more "old skool" stuff from the 90's and such with a bit of modern in there.

I recommend: Tweaker, The Attraction To All Things Uncertain ("Linoleum" and "Microsize Boy" are the album's stand-out tracks) and Tweaker's second album, 2 AM Wake Up Call. Skinny Puppy's latest release, The Greater Wrong of the Right, is also a good listen.
Some other good dance tracks that I like to listen to are "Little Wonder" and "Dead Man Walking" from David Bowie's album, Earthling.

Get into some progressive shit. Sandra Collins has a new double disc djmix out on Perfecto. It's very badassed. Quivver/ Transport 5 is ultra dark progressive, anything by Memnon... Robert Oleysyck is dope for club trance, so is anything mixed or produced by Sasha. If you like breakbeat and yes you do, check Dj Frank Nitty, Baby Anne, DJ Rob E, Adam Freelander... James Lavelle is an excellent and unique DJ you should check out. His style ranges from hip hop to breakbeat to trance, and you can hear it all on Global Underground presents James Lavelle (double disc) Dark hypnotic Drum & Bass comes from Ed Rush, Grooverider, AK1200, anyone from the Metalheadz crew... 80's vibe house/ clash: Felix Da Housecat, Miss Kittin, the new Keoki (KeokiClash- excellent) and another Keoki mix I must highly recommend: Inevitable Alien Nation. It came out in '98 and will rock your cock.
You might find some tracks off these or the whole mix sessions downloadable, but the problem is that continuous DJmixes are impractical for downloading. Therefore you really won't find the best dance music online unless you're tuning into a live DJ broadcast or someone has uploaded an entire DJmix session for you- which you will then need to trackmark unless you want one 74-80 minute track or a nasty, unwelcome pause of silence every 5 minutes in a session. It's best to get recommendations, find your favorite DJ's, and experience their music selections through the mixed CD albums they sell. There it is, crystal clear, trackmarked, and ready to blast on your Pep Boys brand car stereo. Or start sweeping underground record stores and become a DJ yourself.
Yeah. Do that, now that I mention it.
