You might want to try to limit the width to 100-125px. Plus, maybe it's my computer, but it looks somehow corrupt for me on both Firefox and IE. Is it supposed to look like that? If so, 78kb seems a bit on the large side.

The file has always been 78kb for the past year or so. There is a lot of frames in that animation. File size vs physical size does not matter in this case, as I'm using html to let the browser resize the thing.

And it's not corrupt, what's on your screen is the first frame. You prolly have gif animation disabled! It renders fine here with ff1.0rc1

You know what, I bet you're right. Canar's avatar didn't animate for me either. I'll need to find out how on earth I disabled it, and how I get it back. So yeah, 78kb is fine - it's just that I only saw a single frame, so couldn't see why it was so large!

In fact, come to think of it, it didn't animate in IE either. How the hell did I manage that?

the only way to do it in firefox is to use about:config

go down to image.animation_mode

change the value to 'none'

presto.

if you're using IE, you can disable it by going to Internet Options. click the Advanced tab, and de-select "Play animations in web pages"

Did I ever tell you I love you <img src=smilies/liefde.gif>

I always forget about about:config. I need to actually read that monster-sized list one of these days.
