Funny URL

So I'm cleaning the keyboard and I made up this address http://aaasaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa//////////////////////
The funny thing is that it redirected to this url! http://www.infobiogen.fr/db/hssp/1a39.hssp
This happened with firefox 1.0PR...can anyone confirm this and can you do this in IE?

Confirmed. I got the same page. It also works without the extra slashes.

Firefox must be doing an I'm Feeling Lucky Google search, and directing to the page becuase it has 'aaasaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa' somewhere on there. Works with anything so long as you put http:// before it.

Nope. Just brings up an error page. "Cannot find server".
