I'd say this to the devs and contributors, but I'm just an ass kissing nobody to them.
Firefox = teh b0mb. Like for real. This isn't some wanna-be open source anti-MS thing...this is the real deal. It's come a long way from some silly offshoot of the Mozilla suite.
What I REALLY like about this latest release (sans the bug fix released the other day since nothing noticable changed):
- The address bar turns yellow and displays a lock icon at the top when you're on a secure connection...in addition it displays the traditional lock at the bottom, but also displays the web address covered by the certificate.
- It now does the same kind of "info bar out of no where" that IE does when it blocks a popup.
- It does that bar for plugins which need to be installed (like Flash and Java).
- The new importer when you install it....it will import EVERYTHING from IE. Cookies, saved passwords, history, bookmarks...EVERYTHING.
- It integrates with Thunderchicken when you have it installed for reading new mail and composing an email.
- All of the search bar plugins that would require me to redo everytime I upgrade Firefox now come preinstalled.
- It has the "dummy's guide to firefox" in the Help menu for IE people.
- Old feature, but deserves a mention: TABBED BROWSING. I LOVE YOU.
- Also an honorable mention, the Web Developer extension. This plugin is required for webdev....no question about it. I don't know how that guy wrote it, but it's the most excellent debugging tool I've ever used in my 9 years doing this 'net thing.
I'm to the point where I would start recommending this to non-nerds. If this is any indication how the final release will turn out, I'm all for it.
