Me + =

I think I strained a lower-neck/upper-back muscle while exercising yesterday. (At least I hope it's just a muscle injury. ) Last night it started to hurt a little, but today the pain has been really bad if I turn my head or shift my posture at all (hard to avoid).

Thanks. Is that what this is, most likely? Like you said, it hurts like hell, so I've been a little afraid it might be spinal or something. (I figured that if it didn't feel at least a little better by tomorrow, I should see a doctor, just in case.)

Well, it certainly couldn't do any harm.

*AFK, getting a banana*

Edit: Actually I ended up eating two, since I was hungry.

What you want to do if you don't know already is to lie down and have your knees slightly bent with a pillow or 2 under your calves and just lay back and relax, if you start having spasm or anything like that get to a doctor soon, the spasm's can be a major pain as the cause cramps and even cause damage to already injured muscles, getting to a doctor will get you a shot in the back of a direct anistetic which will almost immediately stop all muscles spasms and pain, I had that happen to me after how you describe what your back feels like happened to myself, if your back is still pretty sore on monday morning then go to your doctor and get it looked at, give you the whole weekend to rest it. Hope you feel better soon and unless you have a real real comfortable computer chair like me or your typing from bed, you might want to stay off the computer for to long a period and give your back a rest, and lastly, sleep is the only time muscle really heal quickly, so if you can sleep for 10 - 12 hrs a day, more if possible, you won't believe the difference it'll make in your recovery time, and with a sore back you sleep good. Take care bud.

Your welcome and it is sensible and all from experience, hurt my lower back over a dozen times and once I was laid up for almost 3 months straight, and these are the best things I've learned to do for a hurt back, hell my backs sore now, if I'ld ever learn to quit slouching my back would be fine.

It's not my lower back though, it's more like the lower-right part of the back of my neck, and the area between there and my right shoulderblade.

No way, I had that same pain but it was the muscle going right up next to the inside of my left shoulder blade and that was just about 5 days ago, I couldn't even look up at the ceiling without intense pain, I took my left arm which is the side the pain was on and held it straight out to the side and started making a circular motion and slowly increased the size of the circles as the muscles warmed up and stretched, try it and do it slowly and carefully and even if it doesn't take away all the pain it'll at least loosen the muscles up a bit.

Yay! It took a while, but I'm nearly back to normal. (Well, normal for me, anyway. ) Sorry Tony, but my Otakon plans are alive and well. ;)
