Just curious... If I wasn't in the middle of a 12 page paper, I might care to watch. Think it's gonna be a Duke it out? Or will Chenney say Fuck you to Edwards?

I think it's going to be a blood bath... and yes, A C-Span politics junkie like me will be watching this like it's a playoff game <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>. In fact, I'll go and watch it at the university again to gage a reaction from other students (and to be a neutral discussion leader again. *sigh*)

I think ultimately Cheney won this debate. As for now, I'm very tired. I have to go over my notes for tomorrow, so I'll post why I think so when I get a chance.

Funny how you are awake enough to type this, but yet conveniently tired when reasons are needed. If that's the case, save it for the next day. Under normal circumstances, this would be considered spam.

As for me, I didn't watch the debate.

I watched about 45 minutes of it, until it descended into Cheney just saying over and over "Your voting record speaks for itself". I did find it funny however that he didn't try to defend the fact he voted against Martin Luther King Day.

OK. Will people PLEASE learn the definition of Spam? It's unsolicited advertising on the Internet. That's what it is. It's not "posts you don't like" or "useless posts" or "filler posts" It's advertising.

Hey, did anyone ever notice that "spam" is, like, "maps" spelled backwards? It's one word one way and another word the other! Isn't that super-cool!?

There was one a radio station that played death metal called KCUF, which is FUCK backwards. For some reason, when you pointed out that SPAM backwards is MAPS, I immediately went through several words in my head and made them backwards, in an effort to come up with something both fitting and witty. One of these words was "fuck" for some reason, which backwards, is KCUF, a radio station that played death metal.

Sonuva bitch, even Uri Geller can't make someone 1,200 miles away think about the word "fuck." I even did it unintentionally, which makes it super impressive! http://www.randi.org/research/James Randi prize</A>, here I come.

Soley? Damn, here spam I thought spam was considered to be useless bantering that made no contirbutions. But since this thread is already diving way off topic, I'll suggest we get back on.

The only debate I will worry about is the last one, which I've been told is Friday. Is that correct?

Left-handedness was once associated with witchcraft and Satanism. The word "sinister" has latin-roots, and was originally used to describe left-handed people. In the Bible, the Israelite tribe of Benjamin was known to be red-haired and left-handed, and were fierce warriors. Their left-handedness gave them a distinct advantage in combat, as the standard buckler-style shield was unwieldly when defending against left-handed attacks, thus giving them a fierce, dreaded reputation. Many parents, even in these times, associate left-handedness with evil and try to "cure" their children of it, often resorting to harsh discipline to discourage it.

just read the transcript. edwards got his ass BEATEN. i mean BEATEN. cheney treated him like an inexperienced schoolboy. however, edwards is cuter, so naturally he must have won in the eyes of the electorate. if you examine the debate point by point, cheney was most successful in countering the rhetoric.

a great quote from the evening, compliments of Dark Lord Cheney:

“Senator, frankly, you have a record in the Senate that's not very distinguished. You missed 33 out of 36 meetings in the Judiciary Committee. Almost 70% of the meetings of the Intelligence Committee. You've missed a lot of key votes on tax policy, on energy, on Medicare reform. Your hometown newspaper has taken to calling you Senator Gone. You've got one of the worst attendance records in the United States Senate. Now, in my capacity as Vice President I am the President of the Senate, the presiding officer. I'm up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they're in session. The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight.”

Never odd or even,
If I had a hi-fi!
Madam, I'm Adam,
Too hot to hoot,
No lemons, no melon,
Too bad I hid a boot!
Lisa Bonet ate no basil,
Warsaw was raw,
Was it a car, or a cat I saw?

I think both of them handily handed each other their asses at points. It was just a bunch of "he said, she said" bullshit back and forth accusing one another of distoring the truth or straight out lying. Nothing was accomplished by this debate, and personally I felt the cheap shots by both sides were totally uncalled for. Sure, this is really a cheerleading debate for the top of the ticket, but they could've at least been more issue focused, and less concerned about who voted for what.

What are you talking about? This wasn't in response to anybody elses argument. I think Cheney put on a better show and answered the questions with new information. Edwards seemed disingenious, he repeated Kerry statements to the letter and really only said "They're liars". Not that Cheney was perfect. His "factcheck.com" referance was goofed, and supposedly he has met Edwards before. I would say, if Edwards was the "lawyer" in this debate, Cheney was the judge. He was very composed, very professional-- never raised his voice. Frankly, he gave a lot of the answers I have to wish Bush gave.

Bush can't afford to lose this next debate, if he does-- I think Kerry will have the edge. He's already got the momentum. This is the main reason I think Cheney won; he slowed down that momentum and help up for the Bush side. BTW, FoxNews did a very good fact check: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,134580,00.html. There were obvious stretches of statistics and accounts on either side of the coin-- which is unfortunate.

Just out of curiousity, is Fox news your only source of news?

And it does seem like Kerry is gaining momentum. Whether or not enough people realize how much of an idiot Bush is, that remains to be seen.
