I really don't care. ALL the stuff I release is under do not redistribute. I don't single out ZD or anything. If sites don't like it, they don't have to report on it.

I agree with Swampgas. I have a few hacks I've done for PC software pieces that have circulated around the web. I can't understand why you wouldn't want your hack hosted here. It's free bandwidth, free publicity, a chance to get people from all over to play it and discuss it; what's not to like? If you release your stuff under a do-not-redistribute license, then that's your perogative, but to single out one site (for whatever reason) is moronic.

Indeed. As far as I'm concerned, if someone has some "do not host on ZD but any other site is OK" clause in the license, I say that it would be better to flagrantly violate said license and post it anyway, just as a slap in the face to whatever asshole would have that kind of exclusionary statement.

First of all, I think you might want to relax a bit. ;>

Secondly, the original message contained a screenshot of an internal communication on the boards, one of Swampgas speaking negatively about the ROM hacking community in general. The reason this isn't really all that important is that it's old news...he's been known to have a negative opinion for quite a while. His feelings shouldn't discourage you or anyone else in the ROM hacking community from continuing your work.

this has all been blown out of proportion. if you really care about what one person thinks, then i'm sorry.
i also think it's a bad idea for zmders to give out copies of what was said, nothing good can come from it, so cut the crap.

After seeing the original post, I can honestly say I'm not that concerned about it . . . Looks to me that it was a generalized statement that was intended to be directed at a narrow group of people, that's all. We're all entitled to opinions (except for Lenophis, but that's besides the point).
