I feel thine pain. I'm converting NFAs to DFAs in computer science. Write out a bad NFA, and you'll spend a year and a half with the computations. I just wrote out about 3 bad NFAs, revised them, started again, found out they were still bad, computed massive transition tables, revised the NFAs, and am finally done... and I've still got 75% of the assignment to do.
