After being accused of taking a cheap shot, I wanna make my stand on racism/prejudice concise and to the point.
IT FUCKING SUCKS
In case you haven't noticed, most of us have the same body organs, the same need for oxygen and the same need for human companionship.
My point here is that the minute you say "some of my best friends are" is a clear point.
You hate what they are(philisophically or politically) but you put up with them.
One note to all of you who use that phrase:
FUCK YOU
That is such a bias and transparent statement that hell won't be good enough for you when you die.
See through everything.
Don't say, "This is my black friend Corey"
Or "This is my Republican friend Danoz"
Or "This is teh liberal piece of crap Fla_Flash"
Leave the fucking adjectives out.
Don't drag us back fifty years.

Your including racism is a straw-man personal attack and you have no basis or right to say it. You know what, I was going to keep this in the private message- but since you've decided to bring your baseless accusation into the light. I wouldn't introduce them as a "liberal friend", if that's your only defense for your cheap backhanded flame. I don't hate anybody, I find political opinions are often misguided and wrong for our country.

I hope we can debate this fairly. Yes, racism sucks. Yes, prejudice sucks-- and I think I've made that quite clear in ALL my statements both past and present.

Quite apart from the racism issue, we've all seen you dismiss arguments and sources out of hand for being tainted by liberalism. That much alone constitutes prejudice.

Fair enough. Let's end it then-- just understand why I responded the way I responded. Ultimately I don't think a liberal ideology is best for the country, that doesn't make me hateful, prejudice or in parallel with racist rhetoric. If it sounded like that to you, that certainly was not my intent in any way, shape or form. The meaning behind the sentence was exactly as I said it, "Some of my best friends are liberal", we debate and don't take things personally outside of the argument. I can guarantee you they'd support my running for president, but they wouldn't vote for me. That was my only point. Look at me, I'm primarily involved in politics and I spend time with people who are as engulfed in the election as I am-- of course I'm friends with other people who equally enjoy the search for knowledge and truth. "We just disagree on how to go about it"-- Clinton said that.

Seriously I'm in Laconia NH and even though there aren't a hell of a lot of people from other races other than white I have black, puerto rican, and asian friends who are all dear to me. On the other hand I've noticed lately more racism than I am comfortable with even in my own family, and just because I'm a white 41 year old male who loves jokes doesn't mean I want to hear the rednecks in the area tell me the next nigger, spic, or raghead joke you heard from your hunting buddy. If that last sentence made anyone here uncomfortable then you know how I feel when others use those terms to me thinking its cool to use them and me thinking they really need some mental help or a good asskicking.

Flash, this was an excellent post and I'm glad you brought it up because racism or reverse racism are both terrible things and should not exist but they do for some reason. <img src=smilies/magbiggrin.gif>
