I'm going to seriously stop posting on message boards now, I'm mutha fuckaing SICK of 90% of the internet population. ZD is the only place that doesn't contain much if any shit. I need someone that knows how to obtain an IP of someone specific please PM me. Anyway, the gaming world is FULL of immature assfucking teenagers...and I'm sick of dealing with it. What happend to the internet being an adult place to be...I guess those days are over. "Mommy get me aol." No offense to any of you who are good teenagers. I'm registered at a few other boards one of which is a gaming board and it seems like every post of mine I have to CORRECT someone's mistake...then they flame cuz they're pissed that I corrected them. This happends everyday. It feels like I'm babysitting the red-headed step child and I'm all out of energy. I miss the days of playing Doom2 online and seeing nothing but adults that are mature playing, now it's a bunch of hacking botting mutha fuckas.

Lol @ offtopic subliminal message regarding how to get someone's IP. I agree with you about the internet though. Slowly but surely, I'm running out of places online where I want to go.

I've been on the 'net since 1995 and I can tell you it has gotten progressively worse. Somehow I got to stop posting on boards and just play the games and "ween" myself off of this computer more. I talk alot on MSN with various ppl (including Disch)...soon that's all I might be doing online.

it depends on how you want to get an ip. you can have windows spit out a list of addresses currently connected to you by typing 'netstat -n' at the dos prompt.

I wrote a huge rant about that a while ago on Acmlm's board (acmlm.overclocked.org/board)

This emergence of dipshits is really getting me angry... The worst part is that we can't do a thing about it... Makes me wonder where all the good people went...

EDIT: God damn quoted line limit :P

It's the the courts and corporations and the lack of advertising revenues pushing everyone off, if the ad revenues were there for the truely popular sites not the made to be popular from spending a $100 million to keep the site afloat or tons of tv ads, the real sites where you go one day on a search and say, damn gotta come back here, this is cool, several of my favorite sites are gone just in the past few month and it's really getting me pissed, and I'm not about to become an msn whipping boy or a yahooligan or any of them content controlled groups. I give the internet another 3 years and then it'll all be crap, totally, but maybe zd will make it, we'll see.

I just posted a topic in TotT...so I'll lightly touch on it here. Games are getting too 1 dimentional these days. I thought the Multiplayer aspect of Dungeon Siege would be somewhat like UO, ,EQ, or even RO to some extent...but it's in freaking StarCraft BNET like style. "maps" "number of users" and not a completely 100% immersable world...I'm royally pissed off. D2 sucks, EQ sucks, and UO sucks...now you see the reason why I am STILL playing Ragnarok Online...at least it's "fantasy" like and has a 100% immersable world...granted it's fucked up with hacks/bots/and overall dumbass people but it still is more enjoyable online than Dungeon Siege...it's TOO freaking easy to hack Dungeon Siege's characters for online play--just took me a little time to research the character file format and I was good to go...needless to say I'm very VERY dissapointed in the Multiplayer of DS. Single player is unreal...I know I'm going to get some stiff opposition on my thoughts but who cares...

I could go off on a few more newer games but I don't play them much so there's no point unless someone wants more evidence about my claims. THIS is the number 1 reason why I HAVE to learn VC++...I've wanted to make games for so long maybe my standards are set too high?

-Edit
Case in point on the hacking take a look at these:

http://home.attbi.com/~jce3000gt/ds0042.gif

http://home.attbi.com/~jce3000gt/ds0043.gif

The "Administrator" was created IF I ever built a map for ppl I knew to join in a level there. And if anyone "misbehaved" I'd kill them. hehe "Jamesu" is from my single player game (unhacked and non-cheated). I leveled him a bit in MultiPlayer but it got boring quickly.

I thought it was much worse, in every gameplay respect, than Diablo 2.

As far as totally immersive worlds, maybe you're barking up the wrong genre.
Diablo 2 and Dungeon Siege don't classify as RPGs to me; more like Gauntlet-style hack n' slash with a treasure hunting element. If you want an immersive game, you might wanna try some recent PC RPGs like:

Baldur's Gate 2
Planescape: Torment
Fallout 2
EDIT: Morrowind! How could I forget Morrowind! Plus it comes with one of the most versatile, easy-to-use editors I've ever seen.

Thx for the suggestions...BG I've seen...not really impressed but the other two I'll look up. I DO consider "hack-and-slash with treasure element" as an immersable RPG...lemme define what I consider "immersable": An RPG with some strategy, treasure, fighting, storyline, great music, addiction, and a free world to roam around in. ^_^ That about cover it...hehe.

I avoid most idiot-infested fesspools, and try to stick with friendship-based communities. The problem is, those communities generally don't have a long lifespan, and so I end up having to go to supplemental forums because most of the others only get a few posts a day.
