View Full Version : Congratulation, gun owners. We did it.

1 hour ago the failed 10 year experiment called the "assault weapons ban" expired. This means that we, as legal and responsible citizens, can now possess unaltered and unrestricted firearms.
Does this mean we'll all rush out to buy full auto guns and kill people? Pffft....no. Automatic weapons have been banned since before your grandparents were born. The import of automatic weapons to the US has been banned since you were really young...and for some of you, before even you were born.
What this means is that we can have more than 10 rounds in a magazine.
A flash suppressor.
A bayonet.
A telescoping stock.
And guess what. YOU COULD STILL HAVE ALL THESE FEATURES DURING THE BAN.
Everyone uses the AK-47 as the example...it's the typical rifle the mid-eastern folk use. It looks scary. The other is the Intratec TEC-9. It looks scary. The media says terrorists come into the USA to buy weapons because it's so easy. Gangsters and thugs can get them. Now...the truth.
First, you could get an AK-47 and a TEC-9 and ANY OTHER WEAPON BANNED BY THIS FAILED EXPERIMENT during its duration. They were readily available. Legally.
Second, a terrorist would not gain access to the country, establish citizenship, go through all the hoops to purchase a firearm (procedure varies by state), pay $300 for a semi-auto, smuggle it out of the country, and then go terrorize Russia. They'd go to Saudi Arabia and buy a full auto with all the bells and whistles for $50.
Third, criminals didn't follow the gun laws anyway. They're CRIMINALS. They don't listen to the law.
I was watching Fox news and was flipping out last Friday when they had their "expert" on the air from some anti-gun group. They were not even stretching the truth...they were not telling it AT ALL. My mother says to me, "what if everyone carried a gun? During a road rage incident, people would be killing each other constantly."
Well, mom, how come your everyday Joe Citizen doesn't run a police car off the road or try to shoot him for looking at him wrong? Because the policeman shoots back. I'm not saying everyone needs to carry a gun and have the country become the wild west....but it's the lack of consequence that drives crime and bad behavior. If there was a very good chance someone would shoot back, then your average citizen would think twice about doing something harsh.
It's time that we, as responsible citizens, educate the masses regarding firearms and what exactly is "legal", why there's gun violence, and how to prevent it.
Ladies and gentlemen....we won. Welcome to a free country.

You spelled typos wrong and it should be the singular form of amount.

Actually he didn't. When you use an abbreviated or short slang word in plural, the apostrophe is proper, ie; CD's, DVD's, 50's, and typo's.

I misspelled "scary" and "bayonet". Two typos from a post I wrote in like 30 seconds out of excitement and relief are "massive typo's" that make me seem intoxicated?
FYI, are you drunk? I'm looking at how 'typo' is possessive instead of plural.

Whoa, calm down. I've never really seen you make typing mistakes before, so I was just asking. After all, I was just trying to keep the mood light. Cause you know Danoz will jump in here and bring in his hypocritical "moral clarity" BS. How misleading the internet can be sometimes, my apologies. Besides, I thought you were supposed to be the "happy go lucky" version that everyone loves, or something like that.

From your post here and your post in ToTT, are you trying to carry on RedXIII's legacy of trolling and radical, baseless anti-democrat, anti-liberal bullshit before he's even gone, or what?

No. My post in TOT was part jest and part telling you tobuck up. My post here is fact. Have you read any liberal publications? They are very angry about the loss of the gun ban. VERY ANGRY. Ergo, if the democrats get in, they will do everything they can to reinstate the gun ban to appease their base.
It is really quite simple and logical. Do not paint me as RedX. Now that is a troll!
Besides - I am Liberal. So how can i be antilib?

I dunno, you seemed antilib and antidem by insinuating that the dems wouldn't let a sleeping dog lie. Seeing as the bill expired and crime didn't go up, they should be able to see plainly that the bill didn't do anything positive in the first place. I, for one, am a liberal, and I didn't think the ban was a good idea.

Um, yes, okay. That is the way to use your brain. Hmmm:
Dem option 1: Appease a very vocal part of their base that gives alot of support and get brownie points.
Dem option 2: Appease the gun crowed - generally anti democratic party

I can definitely tell you he's no replacement for our Mr. Owens. I know Red way better than I wish I did, so you can trust me on this. That was pretty harsh.

True enough, but last I checked, it's largely the liberals who want to ban guns anyway, the democrats at least know when to leave well enough alone.

I wasn't arguing the point of anyone, I'm really not a politicaly oriented person. I was merely commenting on the harshness of comparing Gokuh to Red. :P A fate worse than death? You decide.

Damnit....now those fucking 15 rounders were WAAAAY overpriced at $50 each.....oh well, time to pick of a Glock factory 30 rounder.

Good.
The damned ban was ineffective, anyway. I've turned considerably more toward the right to bear arms over the last year, and I believe the ban was a waste.

Upon further research I stand corrected on the pluralization of "typo." The apostrophe only applies to abbreviations and is largely considered optional.

> What could you do with automatic weapons?
As I clearly stated, automatic weapons have been banned LONG ago. 1934. There was more legislation in 1968. The import of automatic weapons altogether stopped in 1986.
To answer your question, I can do nothing with automatic weapons unless I register with the government. Same goes for other weaponry like grenade launchers and short barreled rifles.
Want to get past the ban? Put a thumbhole in the stock to make a "grip". Or a more ingenius move....use firearms and magazines made before the bill was signed into law. It was a pitiful attempt to appease the masses through ignorance and misguidance. We should all be glad it's gone. Gun control by enacting laws to limit firearms does NOT work. We've tried it. It failed.
DiFi and the rest of the Brady Bunch listen up: work WITH gun owners. We don't want to see people dead either...in fact, we try to prevent it.

Wait. Since when is it legal to buy a grenade launcher? I apologize if you were just using that as an example, but thats news to me.

The M203 grenade launcher fits on the front of M16/AR style rifles. It goes in the same category as auto kits, short barreled rifles, sound suppressors (silencers), etc. I'm in agreement with the government regarding the regulation of these items....except for sound suppressors. There should be a caliber limit..like anything .25 caliber and above is regulated, that way we can suppress our .22LRs.
