View Full Version : Bush's speech

I thought it was overall decent. I mean his speeches are all pretty much the same, and even the Fox News analysts couldn't refute that this sounded very much like a State of the Union speech. Some things...

-He uses the word "hope" way too much. Do we have to hope that our extremely loose borders will magically start preventing terrorists from getting into our country, hiding out, and attacking again? Do we have to hope that there won't be another million jobs lost? Do we have to hope that when Bush says "no child left behind" in this speech, he MEANS it this time and will actually FUND that program? I hope not.

-Speaking of jobs, Bush seems to have some solutions to creating more jobs. Were these solutions evading him for the last 4 years or what?

-College diploma? So THAT'S what I'm trying to get! Everyone's been lying to me this whole time!

-He talked about each person being able to put away some tax money to be untouched rather than put in social security which the government will continue to rape as usual. Easier solution: stop raping social security. That money is not play money, government. Not everyone is rich and has a pension.

-The best part of the speech...no mention of SBVFW or anything involving Kerry's Vietnam service. Hopefully that will help that mess go away like it should have by now so we can get back to real issues.

I really don't know what I'm going to do come vote time. I don't like Bush very much at all, but it is apparent that Kerry is not a solution, as he is so obviously trying to play to the people. 2000 election all over again. ugh. <img src=smilies/banghead.gif>

There is a solution. Someone like Ralph Nader would make a good president, which makes him a solution, but there's also no possibility of him winning, which makes him an impossible solution. It would be nice if it were possible to vote on principle but in this day and age with so few viable people to choose from you either get to choose between voting on principle or making your vote count. Making your vote count simply ends up being voting for whomever you hate less. I tend to think this is an important election and that anyone not entirely happy with the status quo should put their support behind the person with the best chances of making a change, simply for the sake of bringing about a change. That makes Kerry a solution of sorts. My reasoning on why this problem exists to begin with is another rant entirely though.
