I download a Popful Mail Sega CD ISO with the mp3 files. But everytime I try to run the iso in Gens or Kega Fusion I only get past the SegaCD BIOS screen to the place where Sonic sprinkles stuff on the Sega logo and then it doesn't go any further.

I configured all my BIOS files and made sure to name the ISO and Mp3s correctly (Pop.iso, pop 02.mp3, pop 03.mp3, etc.), but it still doesn't work. What's wrong?

You have to boot Popful Mail in perfect synchro mode to get it to work. This is under the CPU menu in Gens; I'm not sure about Kega Fusion. And you'll have to either leave it on or turn the voices off to get very far, otherwise the game will just freeze.

Got the game working after the Perfect Syncro is selected, thanks. How would you turn off the voices? Disable the sound?

It's in the actual game's option menu, the one that you can pull up any time you are playing (C button by default, I believe). It's not hard to find in there.

Beware, though, I haven't played the game through with an emulator (got the real thing) and there may be other places where it will freeze if it's not in perfect synchro. The FMV sequences are likely candidates. If your PC has the juice for it, I'd recommend just playing the whole game in perfect synchro. That way you can leave the voices on, and the audio dialogue in that game is one of its best features.

Yeah, I used to turn Perfect Synchro off to save CPU cycles after it got past the boot sequence, but it DID freeze on one of the FMVs for me, and boy was I ever pissed because I hadn't saved in awhile. <img src=smilies/banghead.gif>
