Shit. Makes me wonder how small can a program that does something can go? Or is this it?

Not sure. It's the smallest I've seen, but I haven't looked very hard. Here's another one from http://www.farb-rausch.com/Farb </A> that I thought was interesting. 16 bytes.

C:\>COPY CON beep.bat
^G^Z
C:\>beep
It's a 2 byte file. Hell, if you hex edit it, you could make it one.

What are these programs?
Are they little machine code programs you run in debug?

Well, your statement would be correct but for the fact that you were running it in a command-line window, not a DOS shell (which does not exist in the NT line), and it does not crash the system (at least it does not crash my Windows XP Pro system).

Its the data. You can run them by going into a hex editor and add these characters in it. You could make a new file but if you can't use a blank text file or something and rename it *.com or*.exe.
