View Full Version : Of Cats and Dogs

Well it finally happened.
My best friend and cat, Spaz, was killed by my landlady's dogs yesterday. I've buried about ten cats over the last three years since she's let them damned dogs loose. That piece of work boyfriend of hers tells me "the dogs can go anywhere they want on these five acres". Not anymore. I've also purchased an air pistol. I catch those bastards chasing my three kittens around, there gonna get a bb in the ass. Maybe they'll get the message that way. I guess I was becoming immune to the cats being killed till I found him yesterday. He'd withstood an attack from all four of her dogs at once. They must have caught him by surprise. Geez, he was..different. He loved people, and used to let anybody pet him. He was the fastest thing I'd ever seen on four feet, too. I'm gonna miss him. Sorry about the post. I just needed to get it off my chest.
Oh, and by the way, the bb gun is going to be aimed for their legs. It just might cure 'em.

I know how you feel flash.
My own cat of more than 13 years passed away just 2 weeks ago.
People who don't own cats wonder how guys like us get so attached to them, but hey--cats are furry, 4-legged humans.
If I were you, I wouldn't wait till your landlady's dogs were chasing a cat to shoot them.

I'm sorry, Flash, I know from experience that it really hurts to lose a pet.

Hate to be a voice of reason, instead of sympathizing with your situation (which I do), but . . . Consider the following hypothetical situation:
1) You shoot one of the dogs with a BB.
2) The landlord suspects that you did it.
3) You find a new place to live.

Flash, you could get a huge fine for shooting with a BB gun, but if you got a paintball gun and maybe filled the paintballs with bleach or amonia that would work great and wouldn't leave a mark if you shot em in the ass and would burn the hell out of their skin with the bleach. :))))))))))))) I'm so evil sometimes. ;)

My honest replies:
1. So What?
2 Her dogs have killed, over the last 6 years, nearly 16 cats
3. I can move. :) But, good advice....

They really aren't. They're just missing the one thing we have.
Opposable thumbs. And they don't respond harshly emotionally. Everything they do is instinctive. :)

...tune of Born Free going through my head, thinking of the landlord's jackass boyfriend's comment.

I figured that you could move, but just thought you may want to keep your eyes open for new places before doing anything . . . If your area is anything like mine, you'd be looking for 2 to 3 weeks before anything turns up:-/

Maybe you should lay off on the cats until the dog situation changes? I mean, 10 CATS IN THREE YEARS!!! That's a MASSACRE! /wwwthreads/images/icons/shocked.gif
No point in getting a pet if you're just gonna let it loose in a meat grinder.

You do need to figure out something reliable to keep them safe.

Valid point, Icenine0. I have a plan, and it has begun. It starts with a registered letter to the landlady, stating the next time I catch the dogs down my place, I'm calling animal control. (Dogs in this county are supposed to be chained.). We'll see where it goes from there. As far as her buttmunch boyfriend telling me the dogs (since they're hers) can go anywhere on the five plus acres they want, I do believe a court of law would see things differently. However, I may need to find another place to live. Gotta take the good with the bad. :)
