My computer doesn't reboot.

If I exit out of the BIOS after changing the settings, it reboots, but then the screen goes black and the system doesn't POST.

If I reboot from Windows, it does its thing, then the screen goes black, and the system doesn't POST.

Simply put, the only way I can restart my computer is to turn the damn thing off, wait around seven seconds, then turn it back on. Anything less than that, and it has the same problem as rebooting. No POST. However, if I do wait that amount of time, it POSTs just fine, and goes along its merry way.

This is probably the only issue I'm having with my new system...everything else works just fine, for the most part. It's more irritating than a real "issue", and I COULD live with it, but I don't want an errant power supply frying the innards of my computer up real crispy, if that's the problem.

Any help? Please?

Sounds like a RAM or CMOS/BIOS problem. Try changing the ram.

This may have absolutely no relevance to the situation, but hey. :P

When I pulled out the trace out of my Xbox that tells the system whether to boot from the stored BIOS or my modchip, the same thing ocurred, except instead of waiting a few minutes, i had to wait (generally) 5+ hours which meant leaving my Xbox on all day or not using it for the rest of the day.

I figured it was electricity that wasn't getting grounded out, since the modchip works by grounding out a certain point. The tear in the trace prevented it from grounding out, and sure as shit I was right. connecting the points outside of the ripped trace fixed the problem right up.

So I'd make sure something isn't shorting/grounding out any connections in the system in any way, shape, or form. Clean off the mobo, make sure the BIOS battery is nice and juiced, and make sure no Ram, Video card, etc. connections have hair, dust, or anything in it.

Like I said, it may not help at all, but, it never hurts.
