View Full Version : Space problem...

I set my C: partition to 4GB, but for some reason nearly all of that has been filled. Even though Windows took up a little over half of that. I moved some of the installed stuff to my D: partition, which is very large. However, it still says I have less than 100MB on it. In the Windows directory, there seems to be a ton of junk drivers and stuff that came from the Recovery CD that came with this thing. So what do I do? Or at least how can I disable the "Drive C: is severely low on space" warning?
EDIT: Holy crap! I found the problem. The very well hidden "C:\_restore\temp" folder is HUGE (2GB)! I'm cleaning out all this crap.

What are you running, XP? I can't find a folder like that on my PC, but I know System Restore is active. I wanted to clear it out of restore points so they didn't waste space, but I don't know where the folder is. Thank you M$.

It's a hidden folder. Load up My Computer->Folder Options->View and select "Show Hidden Files and Folders". I'm using WinME. The TEMP folder doesn't even show up if I use that option, so I have to type it in manually using the path above. I need some sort of app that'll erase that folder.

I did, but I'm running XP. It must be in a different spot.

Seriously...I'll send him a Win98SE ISO* just to ease the pain.
*NOTE: Just to ease the pain for evaluation purposes only....If he finds it better, he must then delete said ISO and uninstall Win98SE and purchase a valid copy. Advocation of pirated software is bad...mmmmkay?

WinME is just fine for me. I keep it well maintained so problems are extremely rare. I don't want your ISOs. I have my own sources.

Turn off System Restore, turn off Hibernation, stick your swap file on a non-C partition, and set your browser cache to 10MB.
and in the future, try 10GB for an OS partition. Be glad you're not installing some shit like FFXI that takes up about 2GB alone. :)
