I swear, I'm getting the slowest speed with something that has 86 seeds and over 689 peers, is there something I'm doing wrong?
client: Burst! Ver RC5c
settings:
max peers: 40
min/max uploads: 10/20
unlimited upload speed
btw... give out your client settings and such if you want

You are using the wrong client. That client is known to be buggy.
I'm using the linux version of bittornado (http://bittornado.com/) but there is a windows version. The linux version have both a console and a gui version where windows only have the gui, and I use the console version, but that doesn't matter since the internal code for downloading is the same.
Those are the settings I'm using:
max uploads: 8
max upload rate: 40
minimum number of peers: 32
the rest is the default.
I change the numbers depending on what connection I'm on.
the max uploads I set to upload speed in kb/s divided with 8. and the max upload rate about 20 lower than the max. I get as good speed as I can get on the connection with those settings.

Well, actually, I prefer Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) when it comes to BitTorrent. It's purty, and works really well, and is quite informative on what's going on.
And why would you need to open UDP? If I recall correctly, BitTorrent runs off TCP (my router is set to forward TCP 6881-6999 to the computer I use BT on, and I usually get pretty high speeds). If you meant TCP, then Azureus has a TCP incoming port checker built in, in the Configuration Wizard.

I second Azureus. Altough the latest versions are broken (in my machine at least), the older versions do work fine. Also, it is very important to limit your upload to 80% of your total capacity, otherwise your computer will starve for ACKs and download will slow down to a crawl. So if you have 128Kbps upload, limit that to 96kbps. If you have 256kbps, 200kbps should be plenty.

thanks, I guess I'll have to cancel the download and get another client... alrigthy
edit: aah... ok I got it now... hopefully I'l get some fast downloads now
how fast can I expect with a 25KBs upload rate?
