I bought this Tv tuner/capture card, and I plan on recording some Family Guy episodes with it. I'm wondering what are some good settings to capture with. I'm using DivX pro 5.1.1, 750Kbps nth-pass for the video stream. For the audio stream, I'm using PCM, 44.1Khz 16bit stereo. Anyone have any better suggestions? I'm looking to get decent quality, but also not to take up too much space on my hard drive.

Hmm you are using PCM for audio recording...are you using Dscaler (http://www.dscaler.com) to record? If not, you can cut 172kB/s to a mere 12kB/s by recording in MP3 or even better OGG (down to 6.4kB/s without noticiable loss of quality)

This program I'm using crashes whenever I use either mp3 or ogg vorbis for the audio compressor. ADPCM seems to work though, it runs about 45 Kbps.

This program also seems to crash after capturing 710 frames or so. Argh!

I'm using a AIMSlab Videohighway xtreme. I use AMCAP for recording. The problem with stopping aftre 710 frames seems to have something to do with the video compressor, if I have it set to multipass, nth pass it stops after 710 frames. Setting it to multipass one pass, or just 1 pass and it doesn't stop.

edit: Multipass one pass seems to not capture video, video files show a green screen with audio. Setting the codec to use single pass seems to work, for the moment. I think I'll try Dscaler.

second edit: my spelling sucks tonight
