Has anyone else tried the tweaked Catalyst drivers http://www.omegadrivers.net/here?

I have them installed right now (they work on all Radeon's including the Mobility's like I have) because I was tired of using HP's OEM drivers....one snag though.

For some reason it seems to be causing graphics courruption with DX7 stuff. Eveyrthing else works peachy keen except when I try to run stuff like Black and White, and the DXdiag DX7 test.

Any idea what might cause this? I don't think that it's the drivers (Unless the install is wackY) because I was reading a post about these in another forum and no one is reporting this problem, and it would seem to me that it's major enough that if others were geting it they'd be saying so. I haven't rried re-installing DirectX yet, but does anyone have any other ideas?

I can go back to the old HP drivers I suppose, but... >_<

Yup I did, a few cats back or so. Those particular drivers seem to hate dual monitors, so I stopped using them.

I don't see any real reason to use "remixed" drivers. If the official ones work fine, why change?

Well, like he said, he has a mobility radeon and official catalyst drivers wont work with them, have to use oem drivers.

Well, they would work...if they were allowed to install. Besides the other tweaking of settings and things, the inf on these is changed to allow it to install on all Radeon chipsets. I don't know why ATI doesn't let their official drivers install with the Mobility, unless it's because the OEMs want you to use only their drivers.

I just tried ePSXe with one of Pete's DirectX plug-ins (the one that uses DX7) and it worked fine with no graphics couruption at all. What the hell?

Ah. Having never worked with mobility radeons before, I was unaware of this issue.

Carry on then!

Bumping it since I still haven't figured it out. Don't worry, this is the only bump. it won't turn into..."THE ETERNAL POST" *echo* or something.
