i am finally back, you wanna know what was goofing me up? Kontiki. Kontiki was rated by PC-Magazine as the top notch download accelleration utility. it is a hoax. sure, it works great for everything more or less, but it absolutely hates php and cgi. and php and cgi are used on the vast majority of the sites i use (this program also boasts internet speedup). remember that episode i just went thru, well i finally decided to check things out about recent installations i made. the first thing i tried was kontiki, and as you can see, i'm in. so, if you plan on using your precious favorite sites that love using php or cgi scripts... DON'T TRY KONTIKI!

i do not wish what i went thru upon any of the rest of you. i rest my case.

Thanks I won't and Slicer, don't use PC Magazine, it's almost totally unreliable and biased towards thier advertisers, instead go to this site for the best unbias reviews and help. :)

hehe, i just figured out how to make it not interfere. just disable browser integration, and alls fine, then you have to tell it explicitly to "Get It With Kontiki" if it is something you wish to dload using kontiki accelleration.
below is an example of the difference between normal and kontiki, for me.

<u>normal (without kontiki):</u>

<u>With Kontiki</u>

do you know of any that do a better job at accelleration than that? if so tell me, if not, and you want to try it out (remember to disable integration) you can get it http://www.kontiki.com/right here</a>

i see you were surprised, those are actual snapshots i took when dloading, no touchups. i was surprised myself. i can't wait to find out what it'll do to a cable connection, i get connected to aol at 31.2 and i get that, what about on a 128k connection?

i don't know, but it seemed to go quicker on kontiki, as in actual time...

i was using that and i didn't notice any difference at all, i just used it to pause and restart my dloads, now that ie 6 has that built in, i don't need that... but i think i'll take a watch and actually time kontiki once... maybe they made a typo, or maybe i truly am a retard when it comes to noticing bits and bytes as a speed reference.
