While Lufia: Ruins Of Lore (AKA Lufia 4) plays fine on my Gameboy Advance, it appears to lag on my Gamecube Gameboy Player.
Example GBP: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/233034.asp (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/233034.asp)

The only thing i can think of to acount for this may be because my GC is USA, but my GBP is Japanese (imported).
I'm using the offical USA Boot Disk (ordered from NOA's Website) which works fine for all of my other games.
The Japanese disk works fine on all of my games too, but I get the same lagginess with Lufia 4.

Has anyone experienced lagginess with a USA GBP and any GB/GBC or GBA Game, or is it just me?

Have you tried to email NOA about this? They may have other people that have asked about this--but I'm sure NOA would "frown" on the whole imported game thing. The bastards...

There is another GameBoy player for the GameCube out there...maybe someone here has it and could try an imported game on the US console.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (J) worked fine for me. Try the games on the USA GameBoy Advance unit itself and see if it does the same thing,

Heh, yeah, I'm avoiding e-maiing NOA as the Game Boy Player unit was imported. X_x

Hardware:
USA Gamecube
USA Gameboy Advance
Japanese Game Boy Player

Software:
USA Lufia 4
USA GBP Boot Disk
Japanese GBP Boot Disk

I Tried playing Lufia 4 on the GBP with the two diffrent boot disks, and then tried playing Lufia 4 on the USA Gameboy Advance.

USA Gameboy Advance: Perfect.
Japanese or USA Boot Disk on japanese GBP: Lag, but still playable, if annoying.

I'm getting a sinking feeling that I may need to buy a USA GBP (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/233034.asp) but I'd rather not spend $40 or $50 on something that may not have any difrence.

Oddly enough, I imported the GBP for Lufia, but couldn't get my hands on the game until a few days ago. >_<

You'd think a Reservation would garuntee a game, but alas, it was not so.

Just be glad you're not playing an adventure game which requires precisely timed moves. An RPG at least can be played with a tiny bit of lag. After all you and I played RO during the hay-day of laginess. ;)

Sell the imported GBP on ebay and watch the collectors (like myself) bid on it just because it's Japanese. = )

Offtopic a little: how is Lufia 4 anyway? I'm looking forward to playing it. = )

I tried running it off of my flashcard in the GBP (US) and there is some lag when there are a lot of objects on the screen. Mostly that when combined with running diagonally or causing an animation (like, cutting a plant). Is that the kind of lag you're talking about or is it a constant thing?

Castelvania: SOTN and and HOD has no lag whatsoever on my GBP.
Nor do the Zelda Ages/Seasons games.

Ah yes, I remember that all too well.

What was your chara name?

That's a good idea!
Think i could start bidding at $40 if I include both the Japanese and USA boot disks? XD

>Offtopic a little: how is Lufia 4 anyway? I'm looking forward to playing it. = )

It beats the GBC Lufia, hands down, on BGM and GFX.
What little of the story I've been through retains the style and charm of the first 2 games (SNES).
So far, I've made it to the second town, (where the Ancient Cave is).

Oddly enough, money is extremely hard to come by in this game.
Course that's not the case with a gameshark, but I hate to have to use it.

Currently, I'm working on making maps of the game using VisualBoy Advance.
VBA's lag is madding, but I have a plan.
I'm going to progress on my GBA or GBP, and use VBA to catch up.

So far, I've done Parcelyte, Parcelyte Castle, and the first floor of Lukie Cave.

To get an idea about this game, here's my map of Parcelyte:
<img src=http://pages.sbcglobal.net/joethedude/Lufia4Parcelyte.jpg>
The other maps are bitmaps attached in a zipfile to this post.
After I beat the game, I'll open a Lufia website that'll have all of my maps and what not. XD

That is it exactly.
And when it lags, it distorts the BGM.

Cool, nothing beats a good Zelda game.

Beta 1 chaos characters were JCE3000GT (VIT Thief) and Jamsu-san (STR Thief), loki was Cain STR/DEX only Swordman) and James (AGI/STR Thief). Had other characters nothing real "famous" though. I hung around alot with some of the higher levelers--especially during OZ hunts. My home was basically the Pyr4. Beta 2 was mainly Loki till it went Pay to play...and just got tired of all the bullshit. I finally had really good characters to play with and it went P2P.

Played with the private servers for a while--till my user fucktards ruined it. I'm pretty sure that whole RO community is just destined to be losers and problematics. I was going to do an Alpha or Beta 1 server setup (which is why I requested Eorite last year from you) I got alot of the client and server done I just lost it in a HDD crash. = \

I wouldn't see why not. Just set a reserve and start the bidding at a resonable amount like $10 or $15.

Lufia 1 was so much damned fun, I need to go through it again.

Nice work on the map.

Well, I DID just experience something really odd with the Gameboy Player...on my Flash Cart I have this mini-game that's a GBA version of the game Snake. Now, it has this music that loops over and over, but the GameBoy Player seems to have issues with the way it handles the GBA's sound, although I encountered no such problem on the GBA.

Very strange.

I hate to tell you, but...that's just the way this game is. It does it in my GBA and GameBoy Player with my US version of the game.

Damn ZDD that eternally sucks...I was hoping it was something else.

You get kind of used to it actually, although it is rather annoying. It seems to happen sometimes when you scroll the screen in a crowded area. It's not a problem in places like the Ancient Cave, for example.
